Football will still wait for Ochocinco

Though Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco has made his exit from ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, it doesn’t mean that he’ll be heading directly to his team’s offseason workouts.

As one of you reminded us last night, Ochocinco will next head to a bracket-style dating show on VH1, called The Tournament.

Taping reportedly is set for June, the final month of the offseason program.  It remains to be seen whether Chad spends any time working for his primary employer before heading off for his latest pre-retirement effort to secure post-retirement celebrity and stardom.

  1. This is yet another examples of why the BUNGLES are still the BUNGLES and no one has taken their place.

  2. Ochocinco is the man. He can do whatever he wants. I want him on the Pats.
Cue a raucous comment from ItalianArnyGuy.

  3. This isn’t a story. Chad already stated, and cleared with the coach that he would miss most of the OTA’s. Just as he did last year. Surprisingly, while on DWTS, he did fly to Cincy for a workout 2 weeks ago. Don’t expect anything to change from what was reported 4 months ago. Go write about Ben raping girls instead.

  4. Who cares if he goes or doesn’t go? He’ll still play fine this year. He actually has some guys on the other side of him that will take some pressure off and he’ll blow up. Quit riding his jock about whether he’ll be there or not Mike. I know it’s just another way for you to bash the Bengals b/c you love to do that.

  5. Must be a slow news day. If your worrying about Johnson’s social calendar.

  6. He better start concentrating on life after football because he sucks on the field.

  7. OuchoStinko will lead the Bengals directly to the basement of the AFC North this year. They will not win a single game in their division in 2010. Bank on it.

  8. Something tells me you are 8 years old 9oragtop.
Chad will be in fine shape by t he time mandatory camp comes around.
Now- Lets concentrate on all the disgruntled no shows for teams. Like Phil Dawson and D’Qwell and all the other hold outs.
How many disgruntled no shows for the bengals? ZERO
How many players on Bengals who have publically said they want more money?
    ZERO
Bungles? Ummm they are improved over last year. So I think the other AFC North teams are the ones who need to step up.
Whats the Bengals AFCN win streak? Seven in a row?

  9. @myspaceyourface
    Whats your team buddy??
I honestly think Chad has an akward if not non-existant social-life. Thats why he is constantly twittering and doing things on/off the field to get ATTENTION. But thats all it adds up to people. He’s not out selling cocaine, or raping inebriated college girls, or using HGH. He just does things for attention. A bit immature, but not criminal.

  10. Ocho Douchbago is my favorite celebrity personality!! I live and die for this beautiful diva!! I follow all of his tweets (really, what does this mean? i have no clue) He is so Mexican with that awesome name!!
OK, honestly, I know how the Mexican soccer team has fared over the last several years, because i’m a sports nerd. Ocho Douchbago would not have a clue. He is a wannabe for something that nobody wannabes. Wannabe on the Notwannabe List. Now he can shout to the world: “I have a name that means florking nothing and identifies me as an idiot.”

  11. What is Spanish for “Four And A Half Out Of Ten”?
Will it fit on the back of Stinko’s shirt?

  12. @Drat, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul

  13. He isn’t a rookie, he has been in the NFL (on the same team and with the same coaches) long enough now that he can skip the OTAs. Let the people that actually NEED the OTAs to go to the OTAs, Chad not being there just means that the ones who need it more will get more out of it.
He still stays in shape and works out. So I have no problem with it.

  14. More overly-sensitive smack talk from fans of a team that hasn’t won a playoff game in 19 years.
Interesting how Cincinnati fans keep beating their chests about what a successful year the Bengals had. A season capped off by a one-and-out in the playoffs at the hands of a team that backed into the postseason is their version of success.
    Keep on lowering that bar!

  15. He’s gonna have a hard time beating out Chad Johnson for the starting job this year anyway…..just compare their stats!!!!

  16. I’ll get in on that bet too. Not win a single AFCN game huh? Okey dokey guy! I got $50 that says they WIN the damn thing! Ravens are the only true challenge to that happening, and I’ll get behind my boys to topple them in the spirit of being a fan…. otherwise 9oragtop, if you’re a fan of the Browns or the Steelers, sorry but your team is in shambles.
Oh and guy who is practicing for his next stand-up show that nobody will come to see except his mom…. Chad is an avid soccer fan, so I’d kinda go back to the drawing board with your shtick… You’re very unfunny and clueless.

  17. “This is yet another examples of why the BUNGLES are still the BUNGLES and no one has taken their place.”
A 10-6 team with a top 4 defense who returns all their defensive starters and added SOME VERY GOOD pass offense additions to the team for 2010 are still bungles???
    PFT Fans,
THis is an example of a weak sauce hatin football fan who refuses to STUDY a team to see their improvements but only wants to read the articles and leave a 1 liner worthy of being left by Florio and team….
So are you a Pitt fan??? If so fix your own house! LMFAO!!!!!!!
So are you a Raven fan???? If so get those WEAK ASS Corners ready to play defense….or make sure gnata is healthy and keep Cody off of hte twinkies….feel me????
We can do this all day
and if you aint 1 of them then state your team and MAN UP!
Cause if you are on the schedule in 2010 you WILL SEE A MEAN ASS DEFENSE. and a improving passing game…..Idiot football fans LOL hilarious…

  18. @myspaceyourface
Has Chad failed a drug test? Been named the NFL’s dirtiest player (twice)? Been investigated for sexual assault (twice)? Did he beat up his baby’s momma and/or a paper towel dispenser?
    No.
    @Ricken
    6 time pro-bowler (including 2009), 3 time all pro.
    @9oragtop
You’ve got to be kidding me right? The entire Browns team is skipping OTA’s. Their best offensive players are a #3 receiver, a RB that can’t block and was beat out by that dinosaur Jamaal Lewis, and a practice quad TE. Even if the Ravens live up to the hype and the Steelers overcome Ben and their dismal play in 09, they get 2 games against the Browns. The Bengals going winless in the AFCN is something only a Browns fan would think of.
    @Drat
    See enders response.
    @Laxer37
That team that “backed into” the postseason was in the AFC championship game.
I’m amazed at how Steeler fans predictions for the 2010 season are based more one 4 trophies from the 70’s than the on-field performance in 2009.

  19. “Interesting how Cincinnati fans keep beating their chests about what a successful year the Bengals had. A season capped off by a one-and-out in the playoffs at the hands of a team that backed into the postseason is their version of success.

Beating our chests??? what we suppose to listen to you alls Shish!??! We’re improving we FINALLY have a defense and the playoff wins will come…We are respectable we play hard we OVERALL are staying out of trouble and if you slight us WE WILL KICK YOUR AZZ! I dont care about your PAST SB rings or Conference Championship games…..
WHAT WILL YOUR TEAM DO IN 2010??????
    Talk about that!

As lame as Chad Johnson is, I think ripping off comeback lines from some old movie is worse.

You do? I’m sorry, are you under the impression that your opinion matters to anyone?
    at all?

  22. Guys, people are just ticked the Bengals are a good team. Ticked because Chad Ocho is a perennial pro bowler. Ticked because they are little kids who root for the Clowns up in Cleveland.
Ticked because the only two teams in Ohio are the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Sheer jealousy. Let them write their stupid rants, everyone with a brain knows what’s what.
The only reason Florio has the comments is for this exact purpose… to be the TMZ of the NFL.

  23. @hineswardcrblahblahblah: what about the 2 recent SB wins for the Steelers? You know, 2 out of the last 5? That first one while beating the Bungles and everyone else on the road? The 2nd one while killing EVERYONE in the division? Just like everybody knows that ONE bad year doesnt’ mean the Steelers are falling apart, and ONE good year doesnt’ mean the Bungles are going to be good again.. So I wouldn’t hold your breath, but we’ll see once the season rolls around.

You know you should really change your name to LintLicker….that pretty much sums you up! And since we’re on the subject, how did Shitzburg fair in the playoff picture last year bunghole?? That’s right, they watched from home, just like you. You Squeeler homers are truly pathetic!! Your team is done. As I’ve said many times, you WILL be battling for 3rd place in the Division w/Cleveland. And based on your performance last year with the rapist at the helm, you’ll very likely be last. Go back to counting food stamps loser. And always remember….NO MEANS NO, NO MEANS NO, NO MEANS NO….SAY IT WITH ME, NO MEANS NO……..LMMFAO!!

  25. @HamBurghlar
You’re right, the 2 recent SBs do come into play, but lets look at how the 2010 team resembles either of the superbowl teams.
    Cowher is gone.
    Bettis and Parker are gone.
Randle El is back, but nowhere near where he was in 2005.
    Holmes is gone.
Ward is a few years older and talking about retiring.
Roethlisberger is suspended a minimum of 4 games.
Smith and Polamolu are coming off serious injuries.
The corners are questionable at best.
Tomlin won his own SB, so did Barry Switzer. (you remember that one, I’m sure)
Mendenhall is a good runner, but he spent time in Tomlin’s doghouse and his rookie year was cut short by injury.
Pouncey was a good draft pick- is he enough to shore up the o-line?
Wallace looks like the real deal, but can he take the top off the defense as the number 2 WR?
I expect the steelers to perform better in 2010 than 09. I don’t see a better record though. I can’t see them losing to the browns, raiders, chiefs, but I don’t see them dominating the division. I think 09 is a far better indicator than the lastest 2 trophies.

  26. Hey 90ragtop – I’ll happily take ur money if you’d care to man up… but I’m figuring we’ve already heard the last from you.

  27. @hineswardcries…: Touche, but let me retort: Yes Cowher is gone, but Tomlin isn’t a slouch, he just needs to own the team a bit more and that’s one of the big points that hes stressing this year (after the Ben incident). The Bus/Willie are gone, but they’re now into the Mendenhall era, great runner and big too, as log as he holds the ball. They’ll also use Dwyer as a weapon, big dude too, it’ll be smashmouth again. Randle El is back and should do well like he did before, the Skins didn’t know how to use him.. he’s not a “reciever” per se, but he can catch/throw/cause a ruckus lining up in the backfield. Santonio is gone but last year was the only time he’s had a decent year, simply because they threw more. Everyone thought Ward was done 2 years ago, he was only the leading WR in the league for the first 6-8 wks of last season, he can still do it. Polamalu/Smith are both already at 100% from the injuries, that will make a WORLD of difference on the D (not to mention the LB corps is one of the best in the league). The CB’s are suspect, but w/ Troy healthy and bringing back McFadden who knows the system and was great w/ us before will help William Gay not get burned as much. Ben’s out 4 games, but we’ll win 2 of those, which we can do with or without him apparently. Wallace will take a ton of pressure off the top, he’s a speedster and catches everything thrown at him. I hope I’m right, but these guys are most of the players that were on the 2 SB’s, so they know how to win and what it takes to get there.. And I don’t mind the Switzer SB, my hate is reserved for Neil O’Donnell…lol
