Spagnuolo calls Feeley the starter, Feeley calls Bradford "inevitable"

St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo says A.J. Feeley is, at the moment, the Rams’ starting quarterback. But Feeley realizes that Bradford’s status as the first overall pick in the draft means Feeley can’t keep the starting job for long.

“If we played a game today,” Spagnuolo told the St. Louis Post Dispatch Thursday, “A.J. would be our quarterback.”

But the Rams aren’t playing games in May. Once they are playing games, it’s not likely that Feeley will keep the job, no matter what Spagnuolo says now.

“It’s inevitable that this is going to be Sam’s team,” Feeley said. “When that time comes . . . who knows right now?”

When the time does come, Feeley says he’s fine with becoming Bradford’s backup and tutor.

“You look at it from two sides,” Feeley said. “For me, it’s a chance to hopefully get out there and play until I’m told not to. The flip side, it’s to help the young guy develop.”

  1. Eagles are STILL cashing in off of Feeley, 2011 6th rounder for a 2001 5th round pick, via Reggie Brown

  2. AJ Feeley is a great guy and a solid #2 QB. He knows the West Coast offense very well and has had some success in it.
The guy does not have an ego and is a team player.
I can’t think of a better NFL veteran for Bradford to learn from then AJ Feeley.
Spags will never have a QB controversy because AJ Feeley knows his role and accepts it without any assumptions.
I just wish AJ was still in Philly backing up Kevin Kolb – Michael Vick doesn’t help ANYONE get better. He’s chomping at the bit to get into the starter role and he’s an all-around lousy human being.

Feely starts 0 games this season.
Yep. And still gets paid good cache to watch NFL football from one of the best seats in the house. And absolutely no chance of injury. And with that attitude, he’ll probably keep the gig for awhile. Brilliant!
Someone already said it, “I want to be a backup QB in the NFL.”
Hey. Now I know what Jamarcus Russell is meant to be…..

  4. The Rams have a terrible OL, terrible WR’s, no TE, and a joke of a defense
There is no need to stick Sam out there and get him killed
