Marion Barber looks as good as ever at OTAs

After a couple months of speculation that the Cowboys could trade or bench running back Marion Barber, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gushed about Barber today, saying he looks as good as ever at organized team activities.

“I know this: He looks quicker,” Jones said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com. “I think that is going to make him even more effective. He’s just in great shape. He looks as good out here just in these initial practices as I’ve seen him look in his career. You could easily go from there and look at what his role might be, and it’d certainly be on par with anything he’s done.”

As of the Cowboys’ minicamp the weekend after the NFL draft, Felix Jones had become the Cowboys’ No. 1 running back. But Jerry Jones says he’s happy with having Barber, Jones and Tashard Choice all in the running back mix.

“We’re in really good shape there,” Jones said. “We’ve just got to plan on before it’s over using three backs. I think it will bear out that way.”
