Gerald Hayes supposedly is "fine"

In response to a report that the Cardinals are concerned about the back of linebacker Gerald Hayes, a league source who is among those who are actually working this weekend advises that Hayes is “fine.”

The concern apparently arose from the fact that Hayes didn’t participate this past week in Organized Team Activities.  Per the source, Hayes took his grandmother on a trip with their church to Egypt.  The trip had been planned months ago.

As to the cortisone shots he reportedly has received, the source says Hayes has gotten one shot, he received it a month ago, and it “worked perfect,” with no problems since then.

It doesn’t mean he won’t have problems in the future.  But we’re told he’s fine now.

  1. On the status of talks for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement and the prospect of the 2011 season being impacted:
“There’s really no specific update on the negotiations at this time. We do have meetings scheduled in the next few weeks and we do have work to do. But there’s still a lot of football to be played, so we’re going to be playing this season with absolutely no interruption and it’s not unusual that we are where we are. I don’t think any of us are surprised. We need to get to work, but there will be an agreement.”
