Former NFL player Keith McCants arrested again

Keith McCants, the fourth overall pick in the 1990 draft who had a disappointing six-year NFL career, was arrested Friday on a charge of use and possession of drug paraphernalia in Mobile, Alabama.

The Mobile Press-Register reports that it’s at least the fourth arrest in less than a year for McCants.

McCants, a linebacker from Alabama, was drafted by the Buccaneers in 1990, played for them for three years, and then played briefly for the Houston Oilers and Arizona Cardinals.

The Bucs’ decision to take McCants with the fourth overall pick is one of the biggest mistakes in NFL draft history. With the next pick the San Diego Chargers selected another linebacker, future Hall of Famer Junior Seau.
