Payton: Shockey did not suffer seizure

According to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Friday that tight end Jeremy Shockey did not suffer a seizure last Tuesday.

Shockey was hospitalized briefly after the incident, which occurred in the Saints’ weight room. He was cleared to return to practice on Thursday.

Friday, Payton revealed that tests showed Shockey had low blood sugar and was suffering from dehydration. He did faint, but did not have a seizure.

Shockey was held out of Friday’s practice due to a back injury, which is not believed to be serious. The Saints called his absence precautionary.
