Michael Turner pronounces himself 90 percent healthy

Falcons running back Michael Turner isn’t completely healthy. But he’s getting there.

“I wouldn’t say 100 [percent],” Turner told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I would say 90. I’m well enough to play some games and not worry about it.”

Last season Turner was off to a phenomenal start, with 165 carries for 831 yards and 10 touchdowns, before suffering an ankle injury in the ninth game of the season. But that ankle injury wouldn’t go away -- and he aggravated it when he tried to return -- and over the final seven games of the season Turner totaled just 13 carries for 40 yards and no touchdowns.

“I’ve had high ankle sprains before but for me to go back out there and keep repeating it and hurting it over and over again, probably made the healing process a little bit longer,” Turner said.

The healing process isn’t over. But it’s 90 percent there.
