On Saturday, Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels received only a handful of snaps during a couple of minicamp practices.
By Sunday, he was feeling nostalgic for Saturday.
Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Rosenfels didn’t get a single snap during 7-on-7 drills or 11-on-11 red zone drills. The third-team opportunities went instead to R.J. Archer.
Who? Exactly.
Coach Brad Childress addressed the Tarvaris Jackson/Joe Webb/R.J. Archer rotation by essentially saying nothing. “Just rotating him around a little bit,” Childress said of Rosenfels. “We try to expose all those guys to all situations and it wouldn’t be uncommon for you to see here [at Winter Park] or in training camp where you’re trying to expose two quarterbacks and shutting [another] guy down for a day. I really wouldn’t make anything of that other than we were trying to expose those other three quarterbacks to some of that red area stuff and some of that blitz stuff yesterday.”
Regardless, the fact that Jackson and Rosenfels aren’t splitting reps means that they won’t be squaring off for the starting job in training camp. Which means that the starting job already has been determined.
Which confirms once again that the surgery Brett Favre recently underwent did not amount to a nose job on his foot.
