Vince Young receives an assault citation

Earlier today, reports emerged that police in Dallas suspect Titans quarterback Vince Young of assault in the wake of an incident at a local strip club.

Now, Young has received a citation to that effect.

Per CBS 11, it’s a Class C citation for assault, punishable by a fine of up to $500. And while some may try to claim that it’s not an arrest because Young didn’t do a perp walk, it’s a tomato-tomahto distinction, in our view. So, yes, the allegation against Young re-sets the “Days Without an Arrest” meter.

According to the report, surveillance cameras captured images of Young charging a man who made a “derogatory” gesture to Young. (Maybe the guy mocked Young’s sidearm Uncle Rico-style throwing motion.)

Meanwhile, coach Jeff Fisher addressed the situation during his annual charity softball event. “I’d like to speculate, but we just have to wait until we get the facts,” Fisher said, per TitansRadio.com. “It’s too early to jump to conclusions.”

Fisher will address the situation again at roughly 7:00 p.m. ET. His prior comments apparently came before police issued the citation against Young -- and before news of video evidence of the incident came to light.

So maybe he’ll soon be able to stroll to a conclusion on this one.
