Buccaneers announce deal with third-round draft pick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been widely criticized for not spending money. Well, they spent some money today, Jack.

OK, they didn’t spend much. But they still spent some.

The team announced that cornerback Myron Lewis has agreed to terms. The former Vanderbilt Commodore joined the team via the 67th overall selection, after being passed over once, twice, but not three times in the 2010 draft.

The Bucs also dumped defensive end Maurice Evans, who finished the 2009 season on the practice squad’s injured reserve list.

UPDATE: A league source tells us that Lewis received a signing bonus in the amount of $930,100.
