Dolphins sign special teamers to extensions

The Dolphins continue to hand out contract extensions to players that only Dolphins fans have heard of.

David Neal of the Miami Herald reports the team signed punter Brandon Fields and long-snapper John Denney to contract extensions recently.

Fields was selected in the seventh-round of the 2007 draft and will earn $1.59 million combined in base salary for 2011 and 2012. Denney got three years and $2.65 million tacked on to his current deal and is signed through 2013. It’s unclear what upfront money the players received.

Miami also locked up linebacker Tim Dobbins for two extra years this week.
