Rumors fly of Jammal Brown to the Redskins

On Friday, rumors began to circulate regarding a possible trade that would send defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth from the Redskins to the Saints for left tackle Jammal Brown.

In lieu of burying the rumor in paragraph 7, we chased the story for a bit and concluded that, for now, there’s nothing to the talk.

But that doesn’t mean the Redskins have no interest in Brown. Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports via Twitter that he’s “hearing there might be some legs to the Jammal Browns-to-the-Redskins deal.”

Brown, one of the rare first-round picks in the 2005 draft who didn’t become a bust, missed all of the 2009 season due to injury. Jermon Bushrod, a fourth-rounder in 2007, proved that he can handle the load.

Brown no longer is needed by the Saints, and the Redskins need to improve their offensive line.

So stay tuned. Though Haynesworth may not be the guy who gets sent to New Orleans, Brown could end up going to D.C.

UPDATE: It’s more than a rumor.
