It’s been a rough few months for Chargers safety Kevin Ellison. In April, the team drafted in round four the guy who likely would replace Ellison in the starting lineup -- Darrell Stuckey. In May, Ellison was busted with 100 Vicodin pills in his vehicle.
And, in June, Ellison has lost his job.
Per a league source, the Chargers have waived Ellison. He arrived via round six of the 2009 draft, after playing college football at USC.
He’ll become a free agent if he passes through waivers.
As a rookie Ellison started nine regular-season games. He also started in the team’s lone playoff game, a loss to the Jets.
