LaDainian Tomlinson’s honeymoon in New York lasted exactly three months.
A headline in Monday’s New York Post treated the all-time great like so: “Face facts, LaDainian is pretty much LaDone.”
The article below doesn’t make matters any better.
Bart Hubbuch credits an NFL scout that says Tomlinson looks “bulkier and a step [or three] slower” than he was in his prime.
“If you watch the films from the end of last year, the guy had nothing left,” an accomplished G.M. told Hubbuch. “It’s not a knock on him personally. All those carries are going to catch up to anyone.”
We’re conflicted here. We’ve echoed these sentiments all offseason, hammering the Jets for a foolish signing. Then again, non-contact practices in June don’t mean much.
Either way, Tomlinson just received a preview of the media coverage he can expect if his play doesn’t improve this season.
