Adrian Peterson pronounces minicamp absence “over with”

Vikings coach Brad Childress wasn’t happy with running back Adrian Peterson choosing to skip a mandatory minicamp this month, but Peterson said today that there are no issues between himself and the team.

It’s over with,” Peterson said today at his football camp in Oklahoma, per the Tulsa World.

It would be easy to accuse Childress of hypocrisy in his handling of Peterson and Brett Favre, as Childress was upset with Peterson for missing minicamp but is happy to let Favre skip all the offseason activities he wants. But Peterson says he doesn’t view it that way.

“No, not at all,” Peterson said. “It had nothing to do with Brett Favre. If anyone deserves any kind of leeway, it’s definitely Brett Favre. He’s been there 20 years, a Hall of Fame quarterback. I’m not on the same level as him.”

Peterson said he hopes and expects to have Favre as a teammate again this season.

“We’ll be waiting for him to come back if he decides,” Peterson said. “If not, it will be very unfortunate for us, but we’ve still got a goal to accomplish, and we’ll have to move forward. But I’m definitely looking forward to playing with him this year.”
