Stephen Tulloch “can’t wait for football to start”

As pointed out by Jim Wyatt in a Tuesday blog post for the Nashville Tennessean, Titans linebacker Stephen Tulloch doesn’t sound like a player poised to skip training camp despite his offseason-long absence from voluntary workouts.

“At the house watching cutups of last season, breaking down film,” tweeted Tulloch Monday night, in less grammatically correct form. “I tell you one thing, I’m a man on a mission. I can’t wait for football to start.”

Tulloch can fulfill his wish soon, as Titans training camp opens later this month. And the team needs him, with fellow linebacker Gerald McRath suspended for the first four regular season games, David Thornton still recovering from offseason surgery, and Keith Bulluck not in Tennessee’s immediate plans. Tulloch ranked 13th in the league in tackles last season.

Tulloch signed his one-year, $2.521 million restricted free agent tender in mid-June, but wants a long-term extension. According to the Tennessean, the Titans won’t be giving him one “in the near future.”
