Vikings sign Mickey Shuler

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with seventh-round draft pick Mickey Shuler, giving the team done deals with three of its eight draft picks.

Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com reports that it’s a four-year deal with a signing bonus of around $60,000.

Shuler, a tight end from Penn State, is a 251-pounder who developed a reputation as a good blocker in college. He’s the son of the Mickey Shuler who played tight end for the Jets from 1978 to 1989 and the Eagles in 1990 and 1991.

The Vikings have previously signed fifth-round linebacker Nate Triplett and seventh-round fullback Ryan D’Imperio.

  1. The Vikings should have held out for Mark Gastineau, Larry Faulk/Absul Salaam, and Joe Klecko – Marty Lyons was unavailable.

  2. Wow, book those Superbowl tickets in Dallas right now, the Vikings now have that missing piece to winning it all, a third string tight end. That is if he even makes the team.

  3. Way to represent Central PA, Mickey! Good luck, and hopefully you make the team!

Yep, Mr. Phony Preacher and his $18 million dollar glass church… What a turd…

  5. Wow, this puts the Vikings over the top. Maybe, just maybe they have a chance at keeping the north title…….. nope I don’t think so.

  6. JimmySmith, seriously man, WTF? Every team has signing news this time of year,, yet you have to harp on this little story? It’s people like you that make this site less and less worth coming to every day, the fanyboyism is just rampant and out of control. I know it works both ways, but for crying out loud man, settle the hell down and find something else to do with your time!

  7. I don’t understand why people are upset about this article? Are you advocating for less news or only news that interests you in particular. maybe Shuler signing does not interest everyone or most but it us certainly something many people will find of interest. Mickey Shuler, Sr. is a player that was loved and respected by many people. Many people will be happy to read stories about his son.
The modern ADHD me generation that needs to be constantly entertained or they throw tantrums is rather sickening. These people may have he excuse of being 20-25 year old kiddies and 10-15 years from reaching adulthood but they still act immature way beyond their age. When I was a 25 year old kiddie I don’t ever recall people being as selfish, whiny or so utterly self focused as our modern day 25 year old children. sadly they exhibit nehavior that I think may not correct itself with time.

  8. Jimmysmith always tries to push buttons. Fact is that he is just a hater, more acutely, a Vikings hater.
Hate your way to eating a Superbowl lunch, Purple style…wooooooooooo!

  9. JIMMYSMITH is a gym class reject, thats why he comes on here to bash the Vikings posts.

Fight the power Nancy….sounds to me like when you were 25 that people were indeed not very selfish or whiny. You all had to “band together” to survive The Great Depression! go get some Viagra Zinn, take a deep breath and crank one out!

  11. Percy Thank you for proving my point. Your post illustrates the problem with American children much better than I could have articulated.
But I am still puzzled by the need to post such hateful, angry worthless posts. It’s not just you, as this forum is full of these idiotic attacking posts. Is your life that bad, dull or boring that you need to go on the internet and call people names that you have never met? Do you feel so weak and powerless in your life that you need to attack random people on the internet? Has your mind been so completely fried by modern pop culture that you can’t engage in any kind of simple discussion without seeking needless drama?
I don’t mean anything personal. Rather I am bit shocked and worried by this behavior. What specifically is the problem? Again its not singularly you, rather its a mass widespread phenomenon of many people being turned into mindless idiots on the internet. Almost like all of you have had your minds turned into drivel by aliens. Where does the hate and anger come from?

  12. Shuler is a solid TE. I saw him in a few games and I have no idea why we wasn’t starting over Quarless. He was a better blocker, receiver, and catcher in space. Quarless had the speed, agility, and jumping ability. After his pro-day this may no longer be true. His numbers put him in the top 3 of all categories for TE’s. This has everything to do with work ethic, and because of that he should be a solid contributor on special teams and a solid back up for Visanthe.

Don’t you just love guys that want to come on here and mass psychoanalyze everyone?
Zinn, give it a rest, if we all “have problems” then why are you bothering being on this site at all?
By the way, I like to masturbate with my own feces. Do you see that as a problem?

  14. 7th round picks are pretty boring. Shuler essentially will be groomed as a Kleinsasser replacement. A run blocking tight end primarily used during two TE packages and wedge busting on special teams.
I mean, not as sexy as signing like a Percy Harvin or something but you still need these guys on your team for certain situations.
I like the guy’s name. He’s got a good sounding name. Don’t know much else about him though.

I’m sorry Zinn…thank you for bringing my horrible problem to light.I don’t know why the others are that way but I know why I am. I was abducted by Ted Thompson as a 4 year old boy.Was kept in a dark cellar for 12 years.Lived off of Zima and tofu scraps. Every night he would come down and say we were going to play “butter the biscuit” …I ….I’m sorry….this brings back too many …..nightmares….goodbye Zinn….
