T.O. picks the Bengals

Well, it’s happened.  Receiver Terrell Owens has agreed to terms with the Bengals.

Per a league source, Owens will receive a base salary of $2 million.  He can earn up to another $2 million in incentives.

(We reported it first, scooping even the OCNN, which put the word out several minutes after us.)

The source says that the incentives are based on receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Given that the Bengals didn’t really have a need at the position and in light of the franchise’s reputation for being extremely careful with money, it’s a good deal for Owens.  He gets more than twice the veteran minimum for a player of his experience, and though the specific triggers for the $2 million are not yet known, it’s our understanding that if he performs like he did last year in Buffalo (55 catches, 829 yards, five touchdowns), he’ll earn most of the money.

That said, the decision to tie that much money to performance could create friction, if Owens isn’t on the field as much as he believes he needs to be.  But the Bengals likely know this, and the decision potentially reflects a concession that Antonio Bryant isn’t going to be what they thought he was going to be.

As Albert Breer of the Boston Globe points out via Twitter, T.O.’s regular season will begin for the second straight year with a trip to Foxborough to face the Patriots, employers of “the other 81.”  As PFT points out via PFT, Owens’ preseason will begin for the second straight year with a trip to Canton to play in the Hall of Fame game, televised exclusively on NBC.

And Owens will face the Dallas Cowboys, the team that abruptly cut him after the 2008 season.

Suddenly, the first exhibition game of the year got a lot more interesting.

  1. You line up Ocho, T.O., Bryant, Greisham, and Matt Jones/Jordan Shipley, and that’s pretty nasty. Should be fun to watch.

  2. how is it T.O. picking the bengals when it appears as if the bengals were the only ones that were really interested in him?

  3. T.O. “picks” the Bengals? That would imply he had other options. Somewhere Chad just soaked himself.

  4. Not sure if it’s a good move or not, but it will certainly be fun to watch for a potential implosion and the attention it will subsequently receive. Better than watching ESPN’s coverage of Favre’s “will he or won’t he” crap.

  5. Whats the matter Florio, you little twerp? I see you don’t have the intestinal fortitude to write the column about the Jaguars new stadium sponsor.

  6. Get your popcorn ready!!
Let’s just hope that Matt Jones somehow sticks on the roster….
    This is gonna be fun!!

  7. I’m glad somebody picked him up and wish him well. The Bengals are a better fit than the Jets anyway.
Just think how much fun the stories coming out of Cincinnati will be this season!
It’s the TO-OCHO SHOW! Grab your popcorn!

  8. Actually you should do an hour long PFTV segment called “The Apology”, in your effort to make amends to TMZ.

  9. I’m glad somebody picked him up. For his pride’s sake, I’m glad he had options, even if not for long. The Bengals are a better fit than the Jets anyway.
And just think how much fun the stories coming out of Cincinnati will be this season!
Listen up, folks, it’s the TO-OCHO SHOW, getcher popcorn ready!

  10. Hoping that it works out for them. I agree with Florio, that much emphasis on incentives is dangerous for a guy labeled “Team Obliterator” from his past experiences.
This seems like a “Win, Win now” move, but I really can’t see the Bengals being a SuperBowl contender this year. I’m afraid this is going to do more harm than good.

  11. Antonio Bryant went from being THE GUY in Tampa, to now being a slot receiver in Cincy. That’s got to hurt the ego a bit…

  12. Daaahhh Ok George – is it a 1 year deal or 2 ?!
    Vital information, don’t cha think?

  13. championship LOL, in all seriousness thats gonna be one hellava locker room if that team isn’t winning.

  14. I wonder if this suggests that Bryant’s knee is a lot worse than the Bengal’s personnel department originally thought.

  15. i’ve come to terms with this….and i’m a believer….
lot of talent in the jungle these days….

  16. Did anyone thing Antonio Bryant was going to be good?
This is a good move for the Bengals. I’m looking forward to the late season meltdown already…,

  17. These boys are gonna be monsters, no more double team for Chad. He is gonna let loose this year.

  18. The T.O. and Ocho show. Coming to a city near you to rock your teams socks off

  19. Wow! A professional reporter is impressed with the fact that he scooped OCNN with a news story.
Don’t get me wrong, I think OC is a riot and has a great future career in TV, as he has done a hell of a job selling his particular “brand”.
But, if you can’t scoop OCNN, then you need to find another job!

  20. Nice pickup, but a stacked receiving group now. Carson, if you can’t make it work with these guys, then you need a new system/scheme.

  21. I think we’re worried the Ravens defense may be impossible to score on this year with all the good news floating around..
Lardarius Webb and Fabian Washington aren’t good to begin with and now have to rehab knee’s while in training camp…
Backup Cary Williams is suspended two games
Other Backup and veteran cornerback Walt Harris reportedly failed conditioning tests along with the highly coveted overweight Rookie second-round pick Terrence “Mount” Cody
Other highly coveted second round pick Sergio Kindle has a fractured skull from falling down a flight of stairs..
Ed Reed is likely to be out the first six games this year on PUP due to hip surgery..
    Super Bowl favorites? C’mon Son..

  22. Good for T.O.
I hope all the best for him.
People stop hating on someone that is a competitive player, and stop acting like he’s some kind of thug player. He’s a saint in comparison to a lot of other players in the league when you look at it that way.
He’s fun to watch, and he’s good for the league. Future Hall-of-Fame player for sure and I hope he has a fantastic season.
    Best of Luck,
from someone who isn’t brain washed by ESPN.

  23. Antonio Bryant will be great working in the slot.it’s not how you practice it’s how you play in the game.for example look at laverneus coles everybody said he looked good in practice and look how that turned out.

  24. This is going to end very very badly. Three high paid diva WR’s who all want the ball, all want to run deep routes, none are willing blockers, none want to go over the middle or do any of the dirty work.
Oh, and they play on a team that was run heavy first last year. The Bengals still have nobody to work the middle. The reason they have been so easy to defend
is because they can’t hit the intermediate or short routes. Everything with them was either a run or a bomb. Now they still don’t have the type of receiver they needed, and they have three headcase divas who will implode by week 6.
This should be fun to watch!

  25. I know I am probably in the minority on this subject, but whatever….
Carson Palmer’s fantasy value just shot him 6-8 spots up on my draft chart. Also, the Bengals odds of winning the division just shot up as well. They are now my favorite to win the division over the Ravens.
I believe Owens will have a very solid season

  26. Sweet!!…No Excuses now Bengals. You got the weapons now on offence and great defence. Looks like it rides on you now Palmer! Kick ass!

  27. Any Steeler/Raven /Brown fans that think this is going to hurt the Bengals are living in denial. Cincy is in position to exploit the hell out of all of their weak ass secondaries. Pitt better hope that Troy P can play four spots at once and the Ravens should hope Reed heals up fast.

  28. drumbug71 says:
dangerous for a guy labeled “Team Obliterator” from his past experiences.
    ********************
Again, 4 teams and yet, I haven’t heard ANY of you guys document how he torn up all 4 teams. Please, provide the proof.

  29. Thank goodness it’s the Bungles! I can’t wait to see TO go off on Carson Palmer or one of the coaches.
I was actually hoping it would be the Crows from Baltimore. (I wanted to see Ray Lewis have a few talks w him)
I’m just relieved that Big Mike wasn’t tempted or pressured into bringing that cancer on board w the Browns. I would rather put up with another sub-500 season, than see T.O.’s ego destroy what Holmgren is building.
Go T.O., destroy all that is good!!!

  30. Cincy has 2008’s top receiver in Tampa, and last year’s top receivers in Cincinnati and Buffalo.
That said, now that Stallworth is motivated and in the best shape of his career, I still think Baltimore has the more complete weapons.
Let’s say, for a moment, that Terrell Owens would have put up Derrick Mason numbers in the Baltimore offense.
Chad Ocho Cinco and Anquan Boldin lately have put up similar stats per game but Boldin was underused with Big Red considering their puzzling, nearly inexcusable 23.4 points a game last year. Chad is easier to gameplan against and tackle. Putting the ball in the hands of Boldin or Ray Rice or Dennis Pitta in space is far harder to gameplan against.
Now, I think Bryant is a great, physical receiver and can be a red zone threat but I think Stallworth brings the kind of speed that will draw safeties. And, right now, Stallworth is healthy and Bryant is not.
They are probably about even in depth. A lot of intriguing prospects for 4 and 5 sets.
Ray Rice was the #1 receiving running back last year, Cedric Benson was not.
The Ravens have all three of their top tight ends signed and in camp, Jermaine Gresham is unsigned.
Get your popcorn ready! Owens starts off against the Cowboys in preseason. Too bad there won’t be a star for him to desecrate. $heriff Goodell should donate $100,000 to breast cancer in Ocho and T.O.’s names and let them celebrate. It might be a big distraction from all the attention Big Ben, Michael Vick, concussions, and potential CBA problems has gotten.

  31. @Cincinnasty
If you don’t believe Lardarius Webb will be good than you haven’t been paying attention.

  32. 28 million for a slot 3rd reciever ? lol Yeah ok ….. Thank god he is in Cincy …… Cant wait for the season to start now . The jungle is going to become a Zoo .

  33. Wonka: Speak about a team that you know something about. The Bengal’s problem was they had no deep threat. Ocho is not a deep threat…he is 15 and out and over the middle. Bryant is still hurting so they needed some type of deep threat. By the way…they spent their number one pick on a tight end…

  34. @ Wonka
Maybe you aren’t aware but T.O. made his bones working the middle of the field.
I think this is a win win deal for T.O. AND the Bengals.
Mark my words, Bengals will win the division and Palmer will put up his best numbers in years. Another thing, even before signing T.O. I expected Benson to drop off this season

  35. My sources tell me the Bengals threw in a lifetime supply of condoms so that TO doesn ‘t knock up his sixth unwed mother.

  36. The Real housewives of Cinncinnati….Coming to your TV, sundays this fall….

  37. Haha!!!!!! So I guess TMZ got their 1st scoop, and the hilarious thing is that it was confirmed just a few hours after Florio tried to lecture them on it.

  38. What do you mean, he PICKED the bengals? His choices were between CINCINNATI and the BENGALS.
    They overpaid.

  39. Someone better save 3 seats at the bar for Quan Cosby, Andre Caldwell, and Jerome Simpson. Talk about buried.

  40. Cincinnasty, the Ravens won without Ed Reed last year. Lardarius Webb is expected to be at least 90% by week 1.
Otherwise, thanks for the update on the second string. I had misplaced my media guide. 😉

___________________________________Nobody to work the middle??? What about a healthy Chase Coffman (most prolific pass catching TE in College HISTORY) or Germaine Gresham??? or Shipley…..get a clue wanker

  42. Is America rooting for Ray Lewis or Troy Palamalu to break T.O. in half?
    I’ll take Lewis.

  43. The bengals have Ocho, T.O. gresham, Bryant, benson etc etc.. That team is going to be sick this year. they surprised the hell out of us last year.

  44. T.O. picking the Bengals is like the saying the people on Lost chose their new home.

  45. Jesus! Please don’t start this “Who Dey” crap. You guys literally sound like a bunch of down syndrome kids dancing around a unopened box of school books. Please STFU… Please!

  46. Cincy’s stadium may implode due to the arrogance of both T.O, and Ocho Stinko.

  47. @WhoDeySood5
Chase Coffman wasn’t the most prolific pass catching tight end in college football history, that title belongs to John Mackey hailing from Syracuse.

  48. great move cincy.. good luck to ya. ill take one xlarge bag of popcorn for this show…..

  49. Wow!! How many “Delay of Games” will this offense get because Palmer wont be able to get a word in?

  50. And Owens will face the Dallas Cowboys, the team that abruptly cut him after the 2008 season.
Good. Maybe he’ll stand in the middle of the star and celebrate after scoring a TD against them. And then maybe a member of the Cowboys will get so pissed off about it, they’ll go and tackle him in the middle of said star.

  51. Like my good friend Hughes likes to say: “YOU CAN HAVE HIM!!!”
Everyone is talking Bengals-Ravens, Ravens-Bengals in July. In December it will be Steelers. I can’t wait.

  52. spartaChris:
that would be hilarious but george teague would probably jump out of the crowd and put that guys ass on the ground!

  53. He “picks” the Bengals?! How did I miss The Rose Ceremony??!?!
OK, it’s ghey that I know about The Rose Ceremony, and even more ghey that I posted that on PFT. To atone for my serious gaffe, I will ban myself from posting comments on PFT for two hours. Starting…now!

  54. Good luck T.O.! Hope you have a great season! Wish Buffalo and you could of come to terms to keep you in the B-lo. Everybody calls Terrell Owens cancer, selfish and a team distraction…. Well he was none of the above in Buffalo! Class act! I think all along it was the bad teams he was on(49ers, Philly, Dallas) that brought on the problems. We’d take you back in Buffalo any day! Good luck #81!!

  55. @Peester15 says:
“Wow!! How many “Delay of Games” will this offense get because Palmer wont be able to get a word in?”
Best and most accurate post in this thread…LMAO!!!!

  56. Is Rachael Nicholls still holding Bretts’ balls or has one of the PFT crew been chosen for this task…..
TO and Ocho should be an incredible show on the sidelines when they throw down cause Palmer isn’t getting them the ball!!!!

  57. Every Defensive Coordinator on the Bengals schedule just simultaneously took a crap in their pants.

  58. Not that this is the most important topic, but it WILL come up:
Antonio Bryant currently has been assigned #81 on the Bengals. How easily do you think he’s going to give THAT up?!
And yes, I am a Bengals fan saying this, and yes, I’m happy to have T.O…especially if Bryant’s knee is worse than originally thought.

  59. How come no one has said “Get your popcorn ready”?………………………wait

  60. glad he’s finally on board. T.O is actually very good for the NFL; without him it would be the end of an era of sorts. good luck, T.O.
I’ll probably catch some Bengals this season now.

  61. Why does it say that TO picked the Bengals…don’t you mean the only team to offer him a tender?

  62. What will Palmer’s excuse be this year? No chance in hell this is a good thing for the Bengals. Marvin Lewis will lose this group by mid season…..the inmates just took over the asylum.
Good luck Bengals…….your gonna need it.

  63. Not like signing T.O. is going to make any difference whatsoever. Carson Palmer still can’t throw the ball ten yards down the field, and the Bengals have the worst game coach in the history of professional football. Until Marvin Lewis is run out of town and they get a real QB, the Bengals don’t stand a chance of making a legitimate run at a conference championship. Another 8-8 season, at best.
However, as a season ticket holder, I’m happy to know T.O. will be a Bengal. My seats are within sniffing distance of the Bengals bench, so hopefully he’ll erupt into some wacky sideline antics to keep me entertained.

  64. All you Rats fans are worried that you won’t win the division again this year.Cincy has the better secondary and will win the divison….and Webb ain’t shit.He returned a kickoff against Denver and now he’s a good corner. And did I mention that is first start was against Cleveland? Dumb crow fans

On what team, on his first year there, did T.O cause any issues?

  66. The lack of intelligence of comments on this site is astounding.
    1. bengals are criminals
    2. we havent won a playoff game in 20 years
We all already know this. And as far as I can see Ocho only caused trouble in 2008 when we were terrible other then that he has been awesome.
T.O and Ocho are friends you idiots why are they going to implode? Plus it was CARSON’S endorcement that got T.O on the bengals.
Half you people on here must have down syndrome.
At least attempt to understand something before you start posting a bunch of crap you had brain washed into by ESPN.

  67. @ Ray Ray is soft
Dude, I’m not worried at all. I’m actually glad this happened. Now the Bungholes will get all the attention (which is needed to feed all the egos) and everyone will jump from the Ravens bandwagon to Bengals. Which is precisely what needs to happen for the Ravens to be successful.
And seriously man, you sure do have a lot to say to Ravens fans…….seems like you might be the nervous elephant in the room…….just sayin.

  69. I can’t wait for the crying to begin. this will be better than Big Brother. Name calling, I want the ball, boo hoo hoo. Poor cincy fans.

  70. Suddenly, the first exhibition game of the year got a lot more interesting.
    Umm Really YAWN Its pre-season.
I cant belive people think the Bengals just signed the TO of the 49ers era. The guy is old and not wanted elsewhere for a reason. So no, DC’s are not crapping in their pants after hearing of this signing.
Those that point out that TO in year 1 with every team is a good guy. But in those scenario’s he still had all (most of) his skills and had to prove he wasn’t the a$$ that just burned bridges at his prior team. So this stop MAY be different. He could also behaver because it could be his last chance to win.
    Jusy saying we will see.
But he ain’t striking trembling fear on opposing defenses.

  71. Makes the AFC North the toughest division in football as it stands today. Cincy is a contender and on paper this looks like a decent pick up however I think it has a better chance of pushing kate goselin out of the star paper. I hate to say it but cincy’s had bmore’s number when it comes to winning games however this year I don’t believe they’ll be able to stop the ravens offense and the defense will do enough to shut down the two loudmouths plus their barfighting, houseboat fighting POS benson.

They’ve done it non-stop for 30 years now. They don’t know how else to act. Cincy hasn’t won anything since the Reds won a championship like 30 years ago. They’re just BARELY a better sports town than poor Cleveland (sorry, just to be clear, I am NOT comparing the long suffering Brown Fans to the IDIOTS in Northern Kentucky!!! Brown Fans have some tradition and class!)
    GO STEELERS!!!!!!

  73. OK I get it,
All of you who say he will be a cancer are hating because there is no other thing on which to hate this move. So if he keeps his nose clean and plays to win, then this move is all upside. If I were a betting man I put 20 on him playing to win. I think deep down so would you, unless you cant think for yourself or truly dont understand where the Bengals are at in the organizations history. Most likely the latter, which is ok, I dont expect youto know anything about our team, that detailed, only true fans should. In any event, what Im trying to say is that you dont understand why it is such a great move (as long as key players stay healthy) to pick up TO. And your ‘reasons’ for not liking it are childish, old news, and frankly, desperate. You all reek of desperation. Your DCs are going to have real problems with this team, a lot of talent. But heres hoping we can just execute. Palmer.

  74. Damn. For all you bitter losers who use this site to bash talented athletes, this particular development has to really suck.
    T.O. got hired. Again.

  75. The Bengals are going to be fun to watch.
Either on the field (or something nasty off the field).
Just have a feeling that things might actually go good. TO seems to have mellowed.
    WHO DEY!!!!!!!!!!

  76. This was a good pick for everyone involved. T.O. can prove that he still has something in the tank and the Bengals get a proven receiver. The Bengals offense last year was run oriented as much out of need as choice. The Bengals need to develop a tight end and Ocho needs some relief from the constant coverage he receives.
    GO STEELERS!

  77. T.O “picks” the Bengals …. over what the RAMS! Wow am I the only one that can’t wait for this train wreck to happen! Poor Palmer …. hope you got your MIDOL COMPLETE ready .. your gonna need it!!!

  78. An incentive-laden contract that pays TO more for his INDIVIDUAL performance.
THAT was smart!! Same ol Bengals…

  79. @blackn’Gold
Actually a respectful and intelligent steeler fan, i guess there is at least

  80. @blackn’Gold
Actually a respectful and intelligent steeler fan, i guess there is at least 1 in every crowd.
    But that said,
WHO DEY! This division now belongs to the Bengals, not sure how anyone can consider them a #2 or#3 or #4 team in that division.

  81. Great, now we’ll have TWO BOZOS doing TD dances… but still w/o Super Bowl rings.
    GO RAVENS!

  82. U know what black and gold that was the best comment anyone has made….watching all these people post these comments and hate on a team that is just tryin to give something back to their fans is almost unbareable. First of all u guys might wanna check ur stats before u make a comment that makes u look like a fool….second of all T.O. Is the all time leading receiver in a bunch of categories and a guaranteed hall-of-famer and still in better shape than half the rookies in the league. Cincy is a small market team that has had less than commendable decisions from players….but what team hasnt? People hate on the bengals cause theywanna feel better about their team’s blunders. but palmer is a class act and u guys r giving a lot of credit to a ravens team thats awesome but got swept last year to a team with a better D thats returning all but 3 starters……..QUIT HATIN or at least study up first so u dont sound like clowns….

  83. Cincinnasty just dropped a peg on the shit-hole meter… if that was even possible…
    LMFAO

  84. Do you know what Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo and Donovan McNabb have in common?
They all threw 30+ touchdowns when they played with T.O. and haven’t done so since he played with them. Carson 40+ TDs this year 1st pick overrall in my draft..

  85. This sounds great for the team and TO. It’s a big upgrade from the Bills, he’s playing with a good pal, and it should open things up a little more for all the Bengals offensive guys. Sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun. I hope it will life Palmer a notch – he was weirdly MIA last year, and it’d be great to see him really turn it up.
Better lineup – tougher schedule + Steelers in disarray = Bengals are contenders. What more can any team ask?

  86. Who eats popcorn during a football game? “Get your popcorn ready”. How gay? Beer, wings, pretzels, nachos, maybe even peanuts but popcorn? The show will not be on the field. There is only one ball to go around and TO will not like it when OC gets all the catches. Ask Tony Homo, D-Mac or Garcia. Carson had better be careful about what he wishes. TO will be whining on the sidelines. TO is one hell of a physical specimen but his best years are behind him. How many drops over the past 3 years? What’s that Cowgirl fans? I’m sure you know the exact number. Once again the Bungals make a bad move. Cedric gotten arrested lately?

  87. Also, since the signing of T.O. Vegas odds for the Bengals to win the Super Bowl have gone from 30-1 to 25-1, thats only 3 hours.
    Who Dey

  88. Ha Ha good call corner….palmer is about 6’7 and T.O. Is a beast….we will b in georgetown, ky on sunday for camp ill let them know u guys r stopping down…all I have to say is AFC NORTH? The rest of the league better stop worrying about owens and start practice now cause the mark for the wildcard is gonna b ten games easy. The north is gonna b a brutal week on the schedule fo sho. GO BENGALS

  89. Ray Lewis is the biggest loudmouth ever and he is the man. Big Ben is less than law abiding and he is great…face it u gys cant find any reason that isnt 5 years old to hate on cincy….grow a pair and admit it….we swept the division last year(surely u guys didnt forget) and even before TO we had a great offseason so im not mad we will just have to wait and c. But u gotta beat the champ before u can b the champ……and the champjust added a lot more pop

  90. How come you Bungholes talk soooooo much crap every year before camp starts, then by the time January rolls around, not a peep? EVERY FREAKIN’ YEAR!!!! The Steelers may have won Six Lombardi Trophys, the ‘boys & ‘niners five a piece in January/February, but no one, NO ONE! has won more champiomships in June/July than YOUR CINCINNATI BUNGALS!!!!!! WHO DEY??? As the Great Coach Cowher once stated with authority, WE DEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    .

  91. Introducing a new cancer to the patient. Smart.
No starting WR drops more balls than this clown. Ask Jerry Jones about the number of balls that this guy dropped in Dallas (6 just in the end zone).
What about that $6 million in guaranteed money that Rosenhaus said was the starting point for this senior citizen.
The T.O. curse continues. Print this post off and put it above your bed.
    @ Ligg2583….yeah, Palmer is 6’7″….in heels.

  92. Give credit when its due….marvin and mike brown finally realized the NFL is a money maker when u put a team on the field…..thats scary cause cincy is no longer a bye week. Have fun healing up after a game in the jungle cause our team has a big chip on their shoulder. Seriously get some new material. And if we r gonna b such a joke then why sweat it? U should all b happy right? We should b a piece of cake. We have a quarterback who is overrated( 3000 yards and 7 game winning/ tying drives…half against ravens and steelers.) a running back who boats drunk and knocks out dudes in one punch(tyson style)….( 1300 yards in 13 games). A bunch of joke receivers who cant get dates on their own tv shows( one leads 3 all time receiving categories the other is the teams all time leading receiver…even in bengals history still hard to do) a tight end who hasnt played in two years( reported to maybe b the best pick of the first round) & a defense composed of a bunch of discarded crminals( # 4 overall in the NFL in ’09). What r we thinkin bengals fans? These guys r right we should forfeit the season tomorrow

  93. Yeah cowher had to have his former bengal lineman take out palmers knee to win his title….notice he got cut right after the super bowl…..by the way we have won zero superbowls, maynot win one this year but we r cool with it cause look how flustered u all r….lol. its gonna b a fun season hope everyone stays healthy…..and I mean everyone….my favorite time of year and from the sound of things it could b a good one.
By the way big storm its called exaggeration….i know its a big word but look it up its a good one

  94. @Ligg2583…..
    Good points.
    Here are some more facts:
    Super Bowl wins = zero
    # of Playoff Wins in the last 20 years = One
    # of Division titles = 7 over 32 years
    (about one every 5 years)
    Stop talking.
The reason people get on the Bungles is that you clowns beat your chests like you have a pair and your “breakout” season was last year and you were 10-6 and lost your first (and only) playoff game.
    Good job.
Start telling us about Pete Rose now.

  95. I think the steelers and ravens fans should be focusing more on their own teams problems, big ben is a public piss away from being suspended for the whole year, and the ravens d is starting to get offers from the aarp Im not going to say we are gonna win anything but i like our chances just as much as either of your teams.

  96. And i know this is a football board but don’t start a baseball conversation because pittsburgh’s baseball team is worse than a joke, and well might as well say the same about cleveland and baltimores teams as well.

  97. Ha ha a little late on those stats….and for someone who claims we beat on our chests u might wanna check our messages…like I said we have no rings….like two winning seasons…..we r the bungles remember? But why u all goin on the offensive lol just relax there little buddy…..like I said I love the bengals…good or bad. im sure u got nothin to worry about right? Ha ha see u all in january…..dont lie u all would miss chad and terrell and even the bengals if they were gone…
    GO CINCY…im out

  98. Good work chops…sounds like reds and bengals got peoples attention…i love it. Cut us some slack peeps we finally got somethin to cheer about

  99. Hey Cincy fans: Great year in 2009. Really. You waited a long, long time to be on top again. Can you do it twice? Can you get your first ring? Only time will tell.
I wish you well, but I also think that Carson and Coach Lewis better be watching their backs. T.O. has a history of causing division on his team. Maybe he was a saint in Buffalo, but consider that there was nobody there and nobody around the rest of the football nation to watch. In other words, he did not have a stage. If Edgy isn’t knowledgeable of TOs past disgressions, let him look it up himself.
It’s only a matter of time before he wants ALL of the attention on the team. Then it will be time to divide and conquer.
Seriously, keep an eye on him. He brings teams down, from within.
Again, you did well in 2009, but I agreee with southFLAsteel…..a lot of talk in June / July, but not a peep in January, until 2009……was it a fluke?
Just a short 5 hour drive to Pittsburgh and you can see 6 Lombardis. Just sayin. And Pittsburgh people are good…..they will welcome you with open arms, give you a kielbassi and an Iron. You can now get a Duke to go with that keilbassi t00. Who could ask for anything more?
Big Ben is in the same class as TO and most Steeler fans were hoping to see him go. The ‘burgh is not a City that worships criminals. Ben will not get a hero’s welcome this year and will have to earn the respect back……no guarantee that he can do it. It will take a lot of work.

  100. My Bengal fan friend Shawn called me to break the TO news last night. He posed the question “How are you Steelers gonna stop my offense now?”
I thought for a second and said “The same way Dick LeBeau stopped your offense when you had Chad Johnson, Houshmandzadeh and Henry on the field.”
The truth is, TO in 2010 is not nearly as good as Housh was in 2005-07. Ocho is not nearly as good in 2010 as he was in 2004-2007. Bryant (in the slot and hurt) is not as good as Henry was.
But, the 2010 Bengals of TODAY are now better than the 2010 Bengals were YESTERDAY.

  101. HandsofSweed says:

    ****************
I should point out that when TO averages 11 yards per reception, he’s probably going to retire and TJ has averaged that for his career.
Now, TJ was 28, 29 and 30 in 2005-207 while TO was 32, 33 and 34 and yet, Owens outperformed him, despite being suspended for 9 games in 2005. Owens is 4 years older than TJ but he’s the best conditioned receiver and one of the best conditioned players in the NFL. Just like OC has been better with Palmer than with Fitzpatrick, Owens will have a better year because he won’t have Fitzpatrick throwing to him, like last year.
Oh and while he had a lot of potential, Chris Henry’s career was not as good as what Bryant has had and Antonio can easily put up the same kind of numbers that Henry did.

  102. @ Handsof Weed
“The same way Dick LeBeau stopped your offense when you had Chad Johnson, Houshmandzadeh and Henry on the field.”
I believe the jury is out on that one…

  103. I wish T.O. would just stick to directing films. I really enjoyed “Training Day” and “Shooter”.

  104. steelcityrapists brings up a good point. In the FIRST year of Owens’ contract, Terrell is a good boy. It’s the SECOND year of the contract when he just can’t help himself: the mouth goes wide dissing his current team’s QB, his current team’s coach, his current team’s landscaper… anything and anyone to attempt to deflect the criticism from his tendency to drop balls…
I’ve seen T.O. make some jaw-dropping plays… I’m wondering what he’s got left in the tank. Succeed or Fail, one thing’s for sure: the Bengals won’t be boring this year.

    ———————————————
So Dick LeBeau made the call to blow out Carson’s knee? because any other time all those Bengals were on the field, the Steelers did not stop them.

  106. LOL! I laugh at the hope of fans that are dying to be relevant in the NFL landscape. Like freakin’ TO is going to add anything to your teams chances? I think not.TO and Ocho will be cat fighting by week 5. i do wish you were bringing that clown show to MN for another ass whuppin’ this season…Since the AFC sucks, good luck this year.

  107. Go T.O.!!!!!!!! I’ve loved you from the start. You tell it like it is. Too bad players and coaches don’t like it. Being P.C. takes too much energy.
