Reggie Wayne makes his intentions more clear

When we last heard from Colts receiver Reggie Wayne, he hinted that he might hold out of training camp.

Several days later, he posted a journal entry on his official website that strongly suggested he’ll be at training camp from Day One.

In an entry titled “It’s About That Times Ladies And Gentleman,” Wayne all but says he’s showing up.

“Is it that time already Colts fans,” Wayne writes.  “Seems just like yesterday I [was] cleaning
out my locker getting ready for the off-season.  I guest it’s true when
they say, ‘time waits for no man’.  So Anderson Indiana here come the
Mighty Indianapolis Colts to invade your town for a few weeks.

“All of my friends
keep telling me how they can’t wait for me to go back to work because
they want to see some football.  Then we get into a debate about how
they cutting my vacation short.  But at the same time, it’s raining
every day in South Florida due to hurricane season. So maybe it is time
to play some football.  Not much else to talk about at this point in time.
I’m about to go sit by the pool with a glass of lemonade (that’s right
LEMONADE) and enjoy my last few days of freedom.  Talk to you soon.
GO COLTS!”

Wayne posted that entry on July 21; the Colts open camp on Sunday.  So even though he wants a new contract and team president Bill Polian has insisted that Wayne won’t be getting one, it looks like Wayne is willing to continue to honor his current deal, which has two years remaining.

  1. Mike,
Getting soft all of a sudden? Why not point out the Reggie Wayne signing clearly indicates the Jaguars will move to L.A. You can hate the Jaguars in 100% your posts if you put in a little more effort in forwarding your agenda and biasing the truth.

  2. I wonder if he was coerced by Peyton. I mean..they are good..and Peyton is great. But he needs two HOF WRs, a good running game, and a nice comfy carpeted dome to play in. The Running game stinks now though….so they must address that.
i wonder how good Indy would be with avg WRs..decent running game (No Edge) and an outside cold weather field. I just wonder. Maybe they would be as good..maybe not

  3. He has to realize they have to do Manning’s deal before any lesser player gets paid.

  4. The spelling & grammar is god awful!
Can’t he just be normal and just use Twitter like every other starting wide receiver??

  5. Sorry you can’t afford to buy anything to put in the Lemonade, Reg, but it seems like you only have yourself to blame.

  6. its a good think reggie isnt a cowboy or else this would of made front page news every single day over the last 5 months! same with vincent jackson

  7. Wayne deserves better than this.
    >>>>>>>>
If he does then why did he sign the contract in the first place?
There is no way he gets anything until the Golden Boy gets his!! He will completely fall into his role of replacing Marvin this season. He pouted the first half of every game last year and now he will pout the whole game!!

  8. He’s stupid and whiny, then when it comes down to backing up his talk, he’s nutless.
    A Perfect Colt.

  9. Batman, they already won a SB with an average rush attack.
    Edge was on the Cardinals.
If the Saints didnt have things go there way this year, the Colts prob would have won with a lousy run game.
Not sure what you’re getting at.

  10. cue the ‘freedom?! this guy plays a game 3 months a year.’ ya, buddy, you go do it, see how that goes.

  11. There is no way wayne is gonna get his contract before manning and he knows it. So holding out is useless

I concur rich – however it also clearly indicates certain trouble for Cedric Benson as he did not notify the league nor the Bengals of his potential impending arrest which clearly he must do according to blahblahblah.

  14. If he wants more money maybe he should just go buy a block of garages and bars in north Philly like his predecessor did.

  15. its sad that someone honoring their contract is noteworthy… but thats what its come to… good for him, thats why i like him

  16. He can barely even type in complete sentences. What an idiot. Either you make the NFL or you end up a criminal with very few exceptions.

  17. Stand up guy honoring his contract and showing up for camp from day 1 even though he wants a new deal. More players around the league could learn something from Wayne.

  18. @ Batman, your comments were idiotic. They’re rushing attack was like 31st in the league. When Wayne was injured last year; Garcon and Collie looked like pro bowlers. Manning doesn’t need crap at WR and he’ll make them all better. I don’t like the Colts AT ALL but can plainly see Manning is making those receivers look much better than they are.
New Rule, if you don’t watch football don’t comment!!!!

  19. Ufanforreal, you know all about cheering for a nutless organization. Tell me about lying down like a dog last year after the 14-0 start, except for a few minutes here and there where Peyton threw backwards passes to pad the reception stats of his receivers.
