Bengals running back Cedric Benson will not be suspended for an alleged assault in a Texas bar on May 30.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will not suspend Benson for the altercation.
Although Benson faces charges of assault with injury, he claims he was actually the victim in the incident and got punched in the mouth. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has said publicly that he believes Benson’s side of the story.
And even though Benson is a previous offender in the league’s personal-conduct policy, Goodell apparently believes Benson’s side of the story, too.
