Report: Schobel expects release, wants to talk to other teams

We noted just an hour ago that the Bills have decided to move on from Aaron Schobel, and said how difficult it will be to trade him.

They aren’t going to try.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora says Schobel was informed the Bills will cut him. More importantly, Schobel is “very much interested” in talking to other teams. (So basically he wanted out of Buffalo and got what he wanted.)

There should be a healthy market for Schobel’s services, even this late in the offseason. Here are some teams that would make sense on paper. (Speculation warning. We’re just throwing stuff against the wall here.)

1. The New England Patriots: Changing schemes could make this an awkward fit, but the Patriots desperately need a pass rusher. No player has sacked Tom Brady more times and Bill Belichick loves getting guys that have hurt his team.

2. The Houston Texans: Schobel lives nearby and they could use another pass rusher. Some teams that make sense on paper.

3. Tennessee Titans: They like veterans and could use an end.

4. Atlanta Falcons: Another team short at defensive end. Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff say Schobel plenty in the AFC East.
