Michael Jenkins out 4-6 weeks

Falcons fans have often wondered aloud what their offense would look like if wide receiver Michael Jenkins was no longer in the starting lineup.  They might just get their wish.

Zach Klein of WSB in Atlanta reports that Jenkins will miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.  If the report proves correct, that would put Jenkins’ status for Week One against the Steelers up in the air.

Harry Douglas, coming off ACL surgery, figures to replace Jenkins in the starting lineup in the meantime.  Douglas is a more explosive receiver and we wouldn’t be shocked to see him take hold of Jenkins’ starting job for good, despite Jenkins’ blocking ability.

UPDATE: The Falcons were nice enough to confirm the injury, and even the timeline of the injury.  Thomas Dimitroff is in the Belichick tree, right?

  1. I think Douglas is destined for the slot – I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Falcons line up Finneran opposite Roddy White while Jenkins is out.

  2. @brownsfn19
What flavor kool-aid do you sip on again? Falcons suck and so do the browns. You know it, I know it, so why don’t you come to Pittburgh and polish our trophies for us…All 6 of them!!

  3. @browns fan just being a browns fan shows your knowledge of the game. i guess u think the browns are gonna go 16-0 too.

  4. Matty Ice & the ATL gonna take the thunderdump with corn all over dem Steelers & those 6 rusty relics week 1 yep yep

  5. to the pure truth @ least our qb does not rape women and then buy himself out of it. but whatever.

  6. @ pure truth and pghguy
Must have sucked to be knocked out of the playoff race last year by My BROWNS!!!! Hahahahahaha..

  7. @Stool City fans:
Enjoy replacing us in the cellar boys! Don’t be too pissy about it when that swarming Browns defense puts your heads straight up your own asses!
Sound off base? I think so too, but can’t wait to see it happen! Good night ladies, enjoy sleeping with your brothers & sisters!

  8. The Falcons are going to rape the Steelers in the mouth, just like Ben tried to do with the girl down in Milledgeville. Keep your damn hands off our Georgia women. The Falcons are gonna end your season early. Prepare for revenge.
Keep dismissing the Falcons, you will soon know us by the trail of the dead. That trail starts in Pittsburgh and ends in Dallas.

  9. im not worried about this watsoever, why? simple cause douglas has better hands and is quickly in a straight shot n doing routes and will be opposite white no doubt with his speed n secondly with can easily put meier in the slot who is like 6’2 225lbs or something daft so he’s plenty big enough to take the hits on the in routes and has amazing catching skills n we’ll have finneran for situation scenerios like 3rd or 4th n short n wen me draft aj green in next year we’ll be set for years 🙂 n about the steelers, regardless if they lost ben, the steelers arent none for offense are they smart ones? its there defense and all my fellow falcons should be still concerned a lil bit, id rather have them lose harrison or troy for 6games personally cause weve beat em with ben last time out if uve all forgotten so wat would it matter if ben is in or out?

  10. Brown’s fans popping off in a thread aboout the Atlanta Falcons. Hilarious!
I guess I’d live on other teams’ news too if I was a Cleveland fan.
    See the following:
    The Indians
    The Browns

  11. “despite Jenkin’s blocking ability”!? Not!!!
Jenkin’s is a wuss, and too worried about getting hit to catch the ball, or block anyone.
God I hope its a least six weeks.
He’s a skinny wimp who blocks with his hands but tries to catch with his faceguard. Ohio State players suck.
Finneran would be fine if healthy….
Matt Jones looked good last night and might be a good pickup when the Bengals cut him for not having a TV show.
