Brian Westbrook expected to pick team by Monday

With the preseason starting, the two-a-day portion of training camp isn’t that far from ending for many NFL teams.  That means it’s time for patient veterans like Aaron Schobel, Brett Favre, and Brian Westbrook to emerge from hiding, ready to prepare for the 2010 season.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen writes that we can “expect” a decision from Westbrook by Monday.  Mort throws out the Rams, Broncos, and Redskins as possibilities.  All three teams have showed interest previously.

Westbrook would surely have the biggest role in St. Louis, but the Rams won’t give him the best chance to win.  It’s uncertain if the Broncos still want Westbrook after adding Justin Fargas, although Correll Buckhalter’s injury could open up a spot.

There’s also a chance that a new team could emerge following an injury this weekend.  (And there’s even less of a chance that Westbrook, Schobel, and Favre could combine forces and take their talents to South Beach to form a super team.)
