Dumervil expected back this season

Don’t expect to see Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil on injured reserve anytime soon.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post writes that the Dumervil is “expected back this season” based on everything he has heard. The team’s best defensive player underwent surgery for a torn pectoral muscle five days ago and was expected to be out at least 4-5 months.

The Broncos will apparently keep a roster spot open in hopes he’s back in early December or even can beat that timetable.

“Barring a setback in his rehab, expect Dumervil to return and play in 2010,” Klis writes.

Now the Broncos just have to stay in contention until he gets back.
