Lightning delay in Pittsburgh

The game between the Lions and the Steelers in Pittsburgh has been suspended after a steady rain was punctuated by a bolt of lightning. It wasn’t close to Heinz Field, but it was close enough to prompt the officials to send the teams into the locker rooms.

The suspension came with more than a minute to play in the second quarter. The KDKA broadcast describes the status of the game as “Halftime.”

The Steelers lead, 13-7. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed eight of 11 passes for 61 yards, with an interception and a two-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson.

UPDATE: After 30 minutes, the game is still being delayed. Per KDKA, the game officials are awaiting the green light from the league office.
