Media members ask Tim Tebow for autograph

Dan Le Batard of the Miami Herald created a mini firestorm last week with an anti-sports media column that overgeneralized, but also contained some uncomfortable truths about preparation and professionalism in Le Batard’s industry.

People especially didn’t seem to like Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban’s comment that the “dumbest guys in the room” are always the media guys.

On Sunday night, there was no debating who were the two dumbest people in the Denver Broncos post-game locker room.

Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com mentioned in his Tim Tebow column Monday that two media members asked Tebow for an autograph. Seriously. One was a Cincinnati reporter.  One was a photographer.

Tebow obliged with his signature, and then the Broncos P.R. staff promptly booted the two media members from the premises.

  1. Shouldn’t you be on the phone trying to get an update on the Jets revis hold out, or a Farve update? Wait a min, skip the phone call, just do what you normally do at least and make something up instead of this worthless story.

  2. At Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the Tunneling Electron Microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. If I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn’t be able to locate my interest in this topic.

  3. hahah
I still don’t understand whey the sports media is seen as some revered profession..
Peter King, Dan Le Batard, Jay Mariotti, Woody Paige, Bob Ryan, Mitch Albom, Skp Bayless..
the list goes on, and they let these idiots vote for Hall of Famers; they’re a bunch of no-talent children in a dying profession.

  4. The “two dumbest” of “the dumbest guys in the room” were just too embarrassed to ask their colleages how to spell “Tebow”. Much less “Tim”.

  5. Ugh, that’s the first thing you are taught in broadcasting school… Do not ask the talent for autographs!! Dumbasses, of course it would be a reporter from Cincy 😉

  6. How very professional.
But should we be surprised? Look at the White House Press Corps. They have spent the last decade trying to be friends with Bush and Obama and the Press Secs instead of doing their jobs and asking tough questions.
And they wonder why mainstream, print-based, media is dying?

  7. What you left out of the story is that if you rub the paper with Tebow’s signature on a leper, it cures them.
    Who’s the idiot now?

  8. What is the big deal with Baby Jesus?!?!?! I really don’t get it…he is going to SUCK in the NFL…

  9. colt mccoy must be crying next to his daddy right now.tim is more of a player and a man that chump will ever be but yet he talks about tim all the time.tim will be a servicable qb not a first round qb but quite serviceable

  10. Would this even be a story if it weren’t Tim Tebow but another player? There is a strong distain for Tebow because of his Christian faith and it comes through in the way the media covers him.
I’ll ask again. If it were another player that media people were asking autographs from would there be ANY mention of it?
Most media are liberals. Tim Tebow represents everything liberals hate – love of family, love of God, love of country.
Hence the media distain for Tim Tebow
Hey Mike, Dan Le Batard is a flaming idiot and is widely regarded as such among other “big name” media. Not sure you want to cite Bozo’s work for any reason.

-You shouldn’t be allowed to post on this site; everything you say involves race, ethnicity, and/or religion…
grow up, and take your hate somewhere else. It’s the NFL, a game..
Oh yeah, Warren Moon was the byproduct of the run and shoot, that Bills loss in 1992 encapsulates his career quite nicely..

  12. In Baltimore, it’s on the Orioles media credentials…. NO AUTOGRAPHS. It’s really bush league to ask.

  13. Did Tebow’s QB rating of 87 suck last night? (Oh, and if Willis hadn’t dropped the 40-yarder it would have been a 106). My answer is NO

  14. This team will be the worst team in the league this year. 2-14 write it down.
Tebow should put down the playbook and pick up a bible cause prayer is the only way he will ever help his team win.

  15. Can we try to do a little actual frigging reporting on this site For Tebow’s Sake?
One was a Cincinnati reporter the other a photographer, fine, but from WHERE? I highly doubt they were from the Cincinnati Enquirer or Dayton Daily News or a local television station. More than like they were some local college kids working for the school newspaper or some damn bloggers that happened to get a press pass.
Can we get some Tebow-damned facts here please?!

  16. hey ‘Chiefs2010’ it was a joke lighten up and find a sense of humor
but i see your a chiefs fan so its hard to laugh seeing how your team is always at the bottom

  17. They were probably a couple of hack bloggers who asked or the autographs…their names weren’t Gregggggory and Mike by any chance?

  18. I was shocked at the number of people wearing Florida Gators paraphernalia yesterday in Cincinnati. And they were *just* wearing Gator gear. No Broncos hat to go with their Gators polo shirt, socks or belt buckle.
Move on people. He’s graduated, it’s time you should too.

  19. I would like to know from what outlets the people who asked for the autographs were from. If they were from a local high school or something, there you go. I am not one to defend the local media, but this sounds like more anti-Cincinnati bias to me.
As for all the Florida gear, lots of non-UC fans around here like to wear that crap to rile us up, even though they don’t like Florida, or even have a football team. (I’m looking at you, XU)

    Actually…yes.

  21. Did they have to pay the 100.00 fee that the Holy one charges to sign his name??

ROTFL, ah the accusations of “liberals” Someone has been watching too much Fox “News” and listening to too much Lush Limbaugh.
What most rationale and people able to think for themselves object to is Tebow’s fundamentalist in-your-face religious preaching. Most are religious and believe in God (yes even the so-called progressive “liberals”), but don’t feel the need to throw out religion in every speech.
There’s a reason the Bible belt is looked upon with pity and much shaking of the heads by the rest of the country. Parroting Fox and Rush makes you simple folks look like fools.

  23. Is that what Jeebus would have done?
I’m no christian, but I do know your disrespect and mockery will most likely be brought up at a later date.
    Good luck with that.

Really.. How can you say that? Oh, i see Browns fan…if Baby Jesus was a your QB (or even your waterboy) you all would start winning some game .!.!.!.
