Brad Childress issues statement on Percy Harvin

The news continues to be positive concerning Percy Harvin.  Vikings coach Brad Childress released a statement on his wide receiver Thursday after Harvin’s collapse at practice.

“Percy appreciates everyone’s concern. He is alert and resting comfortably, but will remain in the hospital overnight,” Childress said.

We’re still waiting to hear if there was more to this episode than Harvin’s migraines and what, if anything, it means for Harvin’s future.  The receiver has missed nearly all of training camp.

Is Harvin also just a kid, running around out there having fun?

  2. Brad went on to add that since he would be spending the night with Harvin at the hospital, Brett Favre would handle things at training camp. Making sure everyone got fed, had the proper equipment when they went out, supervising their activities……the sort of things Dads don’t usually do unless Mom is busy.

  3. I know that PFT comments are a great opportunity to make some sarcastic, creative banter, but this is a serious issue. I know that sounds weird considering my username, but with all the recent scientific studies on head trauma and football, one has to worry about Harvin having some neurological deficits going on. The kid is young, and showed some promise as a rookie. I’m not a Viking or Packers fan, so let’s save the cynicism for the next Rothelisberger or Vick caper, or Cromartie’s next paternity lawsuit.

  4. Wish him the best but maybe a full contact sport with hardshell plastic helmets isn’t the best idea for a guy with his conditions.
Even as a Packer fan I wish him a full recovery so we can whoop them with no excuses.

  5. You gotta wonder how long his career can last with this kind of debilitation. Despite playing for the Vikings, I feel bad for the kid. Hopefully he can get a handle on this.

Well, to be fair, I probably wouldn’t refer to a rape or animal torture as a “caper”, but with Harvin, the guy has an entity with basically unlimited resources at his disposal and that entity has a vested interest in making sure his problem gets solved (or as solved as it can get), so I’m pretty sure he isn’t in danger of dropping dead or causing permanent damage (at least not moreso than anyone else). Also, it’s not Harvin digs, they’re Favre digs and the Diva is fair game.

  7. Total idiot checklist:
    1. Have no idea what migraines are? Check.
    2. Don’t believe migraines actually exist? Check.
    3. Find that the truth is typically inconvenient and annoying? Check.
    4. Schadenfeude? Check.
    5. Salivating to hit ‘Send’ on that all encompassing marijuana/Harvin comment that you’ve been saving the past 3 days? Check.

  8. Justin Harrell has back spasms that prevent him from sleeping upright, every night. Harvin has migraines. One gets vilified. One gets applauded. I don’t get it.

  9. why would harrell even want to sleep upright? what is he, a cow? he should try sleeping lying down.

You’re a d-bag and I don’t like you… but that was funny. I thought the same thing about why would he want to sleep upright, but I didn’t make the cow connection. Good job.

    Good catch Gravy…you’re getting better.

  12. I say this as a die hard Vikings fan.
My advice to Percy would be to make as much damn money in this game in as short of time as possible and get the hell out. All this crazy brain stuff coming out on the NFL and he plays his position violently. It just isn’t worth it. Make enough money to get set up for life and then just get out and live life.
I’m not a doctor so I don’t know if the migraine angle adds to the brain damage angle or whatever. Granted Percy hasn’t had a concussion or whatever. But still. He vomitted and collapsed yesterday. Something inside the brain is being damaged in one way or another.

Truer words were never typed on here.
At least you didn’t mention favre.

  14. I want Percy back as much as any Viking fan, and I think He will be back. But now is the time to go for it all. Add Torry Holt to the mix, trade a first round pick to the Pats for pro bowler Logan Mankins (RFA) and you give Brett Favre one more weapon with more time to work. And Peterson gets bigger gaps at the line as well. I would also experiment with Webb as WR in certain situations, his height and jumping abilities could fair well against a shorter DB.

  15. by coach, you mean BrINT right?!?!
I swear the headline says brad childress, but I thought BrINT was they’re coach!

Man, Viking haters are stupid people.

No. People that wear purple, strap on yellow pigtails, and blow on purple horns…are stupid people. OK, maybe not stupid, but apparently people that are big fans of LOGO TV…..not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Can’t wait to see if there’s a 50th anniversary patch for this season on the dark pink unies or if you guys just throw in the towel and jump right to a rainbow pattern…..we’ll see, I guess.
Please get better, Harvin. I won’t be able to stand the incessant remarks of the bitter queenies when the NFC crushes you guys and your only recourse will be: “If we would’ve had a healthy Percy…” and “the refs jobbed us…again” and “those dirty players from (insert team) went after our majesty’s legs” and “if we only had Reggie White when he was alive, and Antonio Freeman, and LeRoy Butler, too…”
    Seriously though, Percy…get healthy, man.
