Albert Haynesworth says he'll "never" talk; teammates tired of talking about him

It looks like Albert Haynesworth won’t be using air quotes again anytime soon. Haynesworth declined to speak to reporters Monday, then was asked when he would talk again.  “Never,” Haynesworth answered, according to the Washington Post.

With Haynesworth mum again, his Redskins teammates talked for him.  And some are clearly growing tired of covering for their teammate:

Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, via Mike Jones of TBD.com: “You wish he’d keep things in house . . . Bad judgment. Eventually this has gotta
stop with the back and forth . . . but once we start winning some games
it’ll all be ok.”

Cornerback Carlos Rogers, via Ryan O’Halloran: “You just shake your head like, ‘What’s next?'”

Defensive line teammate Phillip Daniels: “I guess he was frustrated w[ith] when he played, but i played fourth quarter too. Just play football.”

Just like in the offseason, the Redskins are breaking the normal locker room code of always defending a teammate.  Middle linebacker London Fletcher seems to be the one guy with the big picture in mind.

Fletcher spoke with Haynesworth Monday, according to Jason Reid.  Fletcher said they had a “good talk” and is convinced Haynesworth is “on board.”

As always, Haynesworth’s petulant actions will speak louder than any words.

  1. Trade him to the jets!! We could use a big time pass rusher. Im thinking a 4th round pick should get the deal done

  2. This is just so frustrating….
Everyone hates Haynesworth but everyone also hates Shanahan. Its sort of like the Iran-Iraq War. Do you root for the crazy Ayatollah or the crazy Saddam?

  3. I feel bad for him. He made the bed sure, but he’s surrounded by people who absolutely hate his guts. If he was ever going to thrive, it wouldn’t be in that environment.

    Guess it’ll never be okay

if only we could believe this is true..but if anyone could get him on board it would be fletch.

  6. I wonder what GR has against the Skins. He always seems to dream up ways to bad mouth them. What do you have against them Grag.

this time sell poison gas to both sides

Couldn’t have said it any better myself. That’s the feeling around DC with this oaf. I put on local sports radio and it’s all I hear.. Haynesworth Haynesworth Haynesworth. I mean can I get a breakdown from Saturdays game? Everyones had it.

One thing is for sure, if Saddam were still in power Iran wouldn’t be building a NUKE! Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face, jeez!

  10. Sure Hayesworth has been acting like a diva thru most of this but I place most of the blame on Shanahan. Players pull this kind of stuff all the time duirng the offseason. The fact is that he showed up to camp on time but Shanny decided to act like a jilted schoolgirl.
Had Shanny acted like most coaches instead of the egotistocal ahole that he is, he probably would have had his best player motivated to play football. Now it is probably past the point of no return. I bet you he would have no problem playing for Andy Reid or Wade Philips right now.

  11. Fat Albert may be large man, but he is a mental midget (no offense to midgets). And unless the redskins can find a way to get him a brain/IQ transplant he will keep being an idiot. He even just looks stupid.

  12. Jcarallo. When players dont show up for mandatory practices its about money. That clearly is not the problem here. So try again….

  13. Who cares, the offence will still suck even with a good QB in McNabb. The Oline is garbage and there is no threat at any offensive position.

  14. Haynesworth exercises “bad judgment” and we’re all surprised?
We probably shouldn’t expect much from a man who would intentionally and forcibly cleat another player in the head.
I understand that incident is old news, but how that guy is still in the league after such a heinous offense that was directly related to his employment is beyond me. Forget the other turds and their “off field” incidents, this guy intentionally harmed a player WHILE AT WORK. He shouldn’t even be in the league.
If I took a pair of scissors and went after my annoying co-worker, I’m pretty sure I’d get fired.

  15. BKjetsfan101 – keep dreaming…….a 1st and a 4th.
BernardPollardIsAnAss – You’re right. This guy will wake up one day and realize he wasted soooo much energy in being negative and lost lots o’ money because of all the drama. Imagine the money the Skins would have given him after this year if he has just shutup and played hard.
Why can’t all players have the attitude of Fletch and Daniels? They work and play hard and they always show respect for the organization. Hail!!

  16. deactivate him and let him rot without football…anywhere. He will be out of money soon.

  17. @jacarollo In most years I might agree with you, but in year one of a coaching regime you need to set certain standards. And one of those standards has to be that the coaching staff won’t play games or take guff from players who think they are bigger than the team. His effort to maintain a sense of order with the rest of the team, even if it means making an example of one guy who won’t tow the line, should be no surprise and is fully supported. And given the comments we are hearing from other players on the team – it’s working.

  18. who says all hate shanarat?
albert: if u were eating as usual, u wouldnt have time to talk

  19. I know smiley…that dude said a 4th rounder for the most sought after FA that was available last year. Effing Crazy!!!

  20. Shanahan is going to account for a hell of a lot more wins than Fat Albert.
He is the largest child I have ever seen. He is the new strain of locker room cancer. Just don’t play him and let him keep rattling his bottle until he just quits.

  21. That is the reason Shanny was booted out of Denver. He is so stubborn that he would always let his Ego do things that hurt the team.
Shanny knows he should let the player walk and that the whole thing is hurting the team. But he does not care he is so bitter that he is going to make the player pay. Problem is with years Shanny has become a few bricks shy of a load and the player holds all the cards.
The player is being paid, will never put his heart and soul into the team and knows if he thumbs his nose at Shanny one day the idiot coach will wake up and let the guy go. The player wants no part of the coach and either did Denver.

  22. Machine GUn Ibiza
How do we all hate Shanahan? Actually, Shanahan is quite well received in DC, buy management to fans to players. Its clear you hate shanahan, but dont project your hatred on our organization.

  23. Redskins gave him $21 million guaranteed reasons to have a bad attitude. What did they expect from a guy who already had a past of being a headache.

  24. If Haynesworth continues to skip practices during the season, will Shanahan play him or bench him?
That, not the pre-season, will be the true test of Shanahan’s resolve.

  25. @ jcarollo:
I bet you he would have no problem playing for Andy Reid or Wade Philips right now.
——————————————————Dude, hate the skins all you want, no problem with that. But how can you hate a coach who actually holds these giant babies accountable? Half of the reason the skins have been as bad as are is because of coaches like Jim Zorn, Spurrier, even Gibbs to a degree who don’t deal with the diva type athletes. How many superbowls have Reid and phillips won? Its the tough guy ass holes who win. Just ask Parcells, Bellicheck, Gruden, Shula, Coughlin…….

  26. He’ll never talk again. Sounds like a little kid. “I’m never gonna talk again!”

  27. What did we expect from him? For him to play like he said he would…..he is a man isn’t he? If a man gives you his word and does the opposite WTF are you gonna do? We expected him to be a professional and play his heart out. We expected him to stick to his word and make all efforts to become one of the best at his position. We expected him, after taking the $21M check, to put on the burgundy and gold and play his effin’ ass off. The guy is a grown man, physically speaking of course, if he wants to act like a baby WTF can we do about it? He lied. Next!! Oh…and Hail!

  28. Hayensworth is a moron.
I think they should go after what they paid him and cut his ass. If they can’t do that, then just keep him as 3rd string, never playing him.
Playing in the NFL is a privilege, and this clown clearly doesn’t deserve it

  29. Great insight sportsbruh, what a DA.
More like Im taking my ball and going home. What a fat lard.

  30. This situation with Fat Albert, just isn’t toxic enough for me. Can you post an article when it get’s a little more toxic??? Furthermore, Sportsbruh3 is correct,, Redsking are nothing without Fat Albert.. They have to have him, or they are nothing.. I’m glad Fat Albert is putting this orginazation in it’s place..

  31. Money changes people, for better or for worse.
For Albert, it just enhanced his already too big for his head ego…
He might as well take a place beside OchoCinco.

  32. Shannarat has an enormous ego and Fatsworth is a big baby. But they were both that way before they got here, to DC. Snyder is to blame here. He is like the girl with the defective boyfriend who thinks she can take care of him and he will change. Guess what??? Neither one is going to change. Snyder is the one that single handedly ruined the franchise. If it weren’t for the outrageous contracts, the high profile free agents, the coach vs. player shenanigans, no one one would be talking about this team. Because, quite honestly, they suck and have sucked since Snyder took over. False hope every year, followed by excuses, followed by more stupid free agent contracts. Snyder and Co. have no idea how to build a team.
I will sit back and watch this organization continue to implode. It is downright comical. Every year the fans and local media spew how “things have changed” and 11-5, or 12-4 are possibilities. They always end with 4-12 to 8-8. Mediocrity is the best they can hope for. With a healthy DMac, they are looking at 8-8. Without him 3-13 is a stretch.

  33. “I think they should go after what they paid him and cut his ass.”
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the Falcons were unsuccessful in their attempts to get Vick’s money back.
It isn’t that easy to do, and this latest move is likely his agent telling him to keep his mouth shut – as the Skins play in increasing looking like a “conduct detrimental” type of charge.
But I think Albert’s medical condition takes even that off the table.
    This is bad, really bad.
And how does it help the team to cut him? The fans, that is?

  34. Yeah, Haynesworth is “on board” … the Titanic.
He’s not even the Skins’ biggest concern. That O-Line may well get McNabb killed by mid-season.
    Fail !
