Giants place Jim Sorgi, Sinorice Moss on injured reserve

For the second straight year, a shoulder problem will end Manning family backup Jim Sorgi’s season.

Sorgi, who was worried about losing his spot on the team, couldn’t get healthy in time to help the Giants. An injury settlement could be possible in the future if he rehabbed the shoulder successfully.

The Sorgi news leaves Rhett Bomar as Eli Manning’s backup quarterback. Don’t be surprised if the Giants go after another veteran on waivers later this week.

The Giants also placed wide receiver Sinorice Moss on injured reserve after he underwent a sports hernia surgery. Moss has improbably survived five seasons now in New York despite catching only 39 passes since being taken in the second round of the 2006 draft.

The team also placed Adrian Tracy on injured reserve; offensive lineman Kevin Boothe on reserve/PUP; and waived Nyan Boateng.
