Ravens acquire Josh Wilson in trade with Seahawks

The Baltimore Ravens have added a cornerback to their paper-thin secondary.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Ravens traded a conditional fifth-round pick to the Seahawks for cornerback Josh Wilson. The pick could become a fourth-rounder, depending on how many games Wilson starts in Baltimore.

Wilson started 12 games in each of the last two seasons for the Seahawks.

  1. Funny how it’s taken 10 years for the Ravens to finally have an offense, and now their defense is on the decline.

  2. NIGHTMARE Schneider! Your first big mistake. Kelly Jennings is terrible and not a starting NFL corner. Not only was Wilson a better cover corner, but he was a great kick returner. I would put Walter Thurmond ahead of Jennings.
After nothing but good moves since Schneider took over I guess he was due for a bad one.

  3. I love this trade. I am quite surprise that the Ravens did not trade a LB for him but I am perfectly fine with it

  4. Giving away Wilson for a bag of dicks…Carrol is going to ruin this franchise like he did the J-E-T-S

  5. Great Seattle.. Give up more of your decent players while u rebuild… Lol Pete Carroll is gonna make you implode

  6. This is truly a surprising move, Josh was the Hawks best corner last year and they traded him for a FIFTH??? WOW just WOW!!!

  7. Still going suck regardless. Another Terp pickup. What’s next…sign Bruce Perry?

Hysterical Redskins fans with penis envy of all things Ravens. Ozzie’s moves keep the Ravens as an annual contender, while your franchise falls into yet another last place finish over the past two decades.
Josh is as talented as any of the slugs on your corners.
Don’t you wish that your front office could pull off steals like this? Instead, the last time that your team was in a trade involving a CB, they gave away Champ Bailey, one of the best in the business for the last decade, for a washed up, has-been RB. OK, that was Vinnie. So now, your new management emasculates your draft to pick up rag armed washed up Donovan McNabb.

  10. @DieHardSkinsFan21
Don’t know how this is a bad move when the ravens get a good #2 corner for a 5th round pick

Don’t be mad just cuz the Ravens are a sb contender this year and the skins yet again wont even come close to living up to the ridiculous hype their fans put on them.

  12. It’s official….the hawks are going for Locker. I was wondering why they kept playing a POS like Jennings instead of Josh “Football” Wilson. Who the hell are they going to play at Nickel?!?!? I guess Babineux is staying…….
Baltimore just got a great deal for a player they needed badly.

  13. Anyone want to disagree that Ozzie is the…
    MAN!!!!!
    THE F’ING MAN!!!!!
    I LOVE YOU OZZIE!!!!
EAT IT CINCY & PITT….Brownies are irrelevant

  14. Absolutely the worst move Carroll and Schneider have made so far ! This is just retarded – Kelly Jennings couldn’t cover my grandma on a slant route , and she’s dead . Wow , just wow !
Well , I was hoping Thurmond could step up and start next year – I guess we’ll be praying for him to start around game 3 this season after Jennings gets torched a few times like he does every year and Carroll and Schneider get their eyes opened to how bad he really is . Good God …

  15. Wow, Ozzie Newsome may truly be the best. How did this deal even happen? lol Wilson is a straight baller. I’m still in shock, just wow. 5th rounder? Wow…

  16. This trade is so bad I had to rant twice. I’m totally stunned. Kelly Jennings is now HANDS DOWN the worst starting corner in the NFL – and I’ve watched every snap he’s ever played as a pro plus a number of training camp practices.
Please someone name me a worse starting corner than Jennings – I dare you. If you don’t beleive me watch any tape of a game that Jennings has played a good chunk of in.
CB was their biggest position of need before this trade. I can’t believe it – I feel sick. Anyone want to take my tickets to the Niners/Seahawks week 1? Absolutely gross! What a downer before a season that was starting to show promise.
Unless Schneider has a line on another CB from another team – that’s the only thing that makes sense here (sorry, playing for Locker is funny but not legit).

  17. As bad as Jennings sucks, Wilson was never able to take his starting job away from him. I hate to see him go, but a 5th round pick for a nickel corner is a pretty fair trade. With his size, or lack thereof, he will never be more than a very good nickel back. Although, he does have some above average return skills.

  18. Damn, second lopsided deal Baltimore has had with Seattle – don’t forget the Orioles trade of Erik Bedard for Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman and Kameron Mickolio.

  19. The Ravens wouldn’t have made the trade unless it was necessary. With the injuries in the secondary, a quality player is insurance. I only hate the Ravens when they play the Steelers. Other than that, I’m glad the Ravens are in the AFCN.
    GO STEELERS!

  20. This sucks!!!!!!!! He always makes big plays! We will miss you and I hope the best for you! I don’t get this one at all?

  21. Josh is a University of MD grad so he’s coming home. Guy is an average to above average cover corner and a ball hawk. He is also a very talented special teamer and good return man. Getting him for a #5 when it was our greatest position of need is a steal assuming he is healthy.
@ DieHardSkinsFan – you sir are truly a moron. Just keep loving the Danny because your team is the most profitable in the NFL. They’ll keep stealing your money and not showing anything for it while we’ll keep on making the playoffs.

  22. Marciniko7…..wow!! This dude rocks….didnt know much about him. After reading Seahawks fans comments, I feel bad for them for the loss.
Put him in the secondary with the future shutdown corner Lardarius Webb…wow!!

  23. Webb, Washington, Wilson, Carr, Williams etc at CB. The Ravens were 8th against the pass last year. Enough said. People that don’t know Webb, you soon will. People that sleep on Washington will soon awake.

Really? Kentwan Balmer was a good move?? Lol
And trading Wallace away wasn’t too bright either

  25. scouting report on this guy is as a local product and a low end DoucheBag, so the move is about team chemistry as much as anything. he simply fits in baltimore…other than that he isn’t much, but he is obviously better than anyone baltimore has got…
anyone doing the annual hype up the ravens song and dance, is obviously pretending not to notice how terrible they are in the secondary, and how they struggle to generate a pass rush.

  26. god. carroll/schneider, you assholes… terrible trade. pretty much the only player on defense who played with any sort of heart these last two years

  27. Josh is a silly athlete and pound for pound is a strong ass dude, he will help us out a lot. Welcome back to MD; we greet every former terp with open arms… except maybe merriman.

That makes absolutely no sense. I only hate the Ravens when they play the Steelers? Who likes a rival at all. I can officially say the only time I’d like anything having to do with the Steelers is if the team plane crashed.
Do you also like having herpes but hate when you have outbreaks?

  30. It makes perfect sense to respect a hated rival and appreciate the competition they bring each and every game. If they didn’t, it wouldnt be a…rivalry.

  31. Why would the agree to # of starts as the compensation condition? All Baltimore has to do is leave him on the bench for the first play and then he can play the rest of the game without changing the pick to a 4th. Playing time would have been a much more logical choice, especially if the guy contributes on special teams too.

  32. We should have at least thrown in Troy Smith or something…I actually feel bad for Seattle…
    RAVENS!

  33. Ravens & Terps fan here…..cloud 9 after this move. One of my favorite players…f’ing awesome

  34. As much as people are saying that this was a steal for Baltimore and as excited as I am about bringing in corner depth and really good kick returner, you have to remember that this guy is in the last year of his contract and will be looking for a new deal after the season and the Seahawks weren’t going to resign him. It’s more factors than just simply a 5th RD pick for Wilson. In reality, it’s a yearly rental, because chances are this guys is going to want a nice contract after basically leading the league in kick returning in 09 and I doubt the Ravens will pay that kind of salary for a #4 corner (in 2011 with Foxworth coming back). So the Seahawks got a 5th rounder (could turn into a 4th) for a guy who had no shot of being resigned.
