Giants could be keeping three quarterbacks

With Sage Rosenfels in as the backup to Giants starter and Jim Sorgi (the official Manning family caddy) on IR, the question is whether the team will keep a third quarterback.

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News says that, for now, it appears that they’ll keep three, which means that Rhett Bomar will have a paying job that actually requires him to do some work.

Not much work, but some.

Most teams will have to resolve today the question of whether to keep two or three quarterbacks. Some teams prefer to have a young guy to develop. Some (like the Eagles, Broncos, and Dolphins) have a non-traditional third quarterback who could be activated on game days due to the ability to run a single wing-style offense. Some teams realize that if they ever have to use three quarterbacks in the same game, the third guy can’t be relied upon to do anything to alter the outcome.

Vacchiano also reports out that tight end Bear Pascoe has gotten the boot. He was a sixth-round pick of the 49ers in 2009.

It’s not huge news, but we like the guy’s name.
