League looking into Dockett’s pregame tweet

While checking Twitter on Sunday afternoon to see whether Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco decided to post any updates during his team’s game regarding the reason for his absence from the field for the Hail Mary play that ended the second quarter, we noticed that Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett had posted a tweet of his own 20 minutes before kickoff of the Arizona-St. Louis game.

Here’s the problem. The NFL prohibits any use of social media 90 minutes before kickoff.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told us on Tuesday that the league is looking into the matter. But, frankly, it should be an easy process. Dockett posted the message on his verified account at 3:55 p.m. ET. The game began at 4:15 p.m. ET.

Chad Ochocinco was slapped with a $25,000 fine for posting a message during a preseason game. Though Ochocinco’s history of fines may have influenced the total in the most recent incident, it would be horribly inconsistent if Dockett skates.
