Darnell Dockett gets $5,000 Twitter fine

On Sunday, Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett posted an entry on his Twitter page 20 minutes before kickoff of the team’s game against the Rams. It was an obvious violation of league rules, which prohibit the use of social media 90 minutes before the start of a game.

And Dockett has been fined $5,000, according to Darren Urban of the team’s official website.

The fact that Dockett’s fine represents only 20 percent of the $25,000 fine imposed on Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco for posting a Twitter update during a preseason game shows that Ochocinco’s history of unrelated fines factored into the league’s decision.

As to Dockett, the fine based on his salary works out to roughly to the amount he’s paid for one minutes and five second of each game.
