Moss beats Revis deep, but can’t beat Cromartie

Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss went one-on-one with Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and beat him deep. Then he went one-on-one with Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie and got beaten.

Moss scored his 150th career touchdown on one of the best catches of this young NFL season, blowing past Revis on a deep ball from Tom Brady and catching it one-handed in the end zone.

But in the third quarter Brady went deep to Moss again, and this time Cromartie was in coverage because Revis is out with a hamstring injury. Cromartie stayed step-for-step with Moss and actually did a better job than Moss of adjusting with the ball in the air, and Cromartie intercepted the pass at the 3-yard line.

Although Moss’s 34-yard touchdown was sensational, it was his only big play of the day so far. In all he has two catches for 38 yards.

After Cromartie’s pick the Jets drove down the field, kicked a field goal and cut the Patriots’ lead to 14-13.
