Two teammates were in vehicle with Braylon Edwards

It was reported earlier today that Jets receiver Braylon Edwards had a passenger in his car when arrested early this morning for DUI.  As it turns out, he had two.  As it also turns out, they play for the Jets.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and defensive end Vernon Gholston were in the vehicle with Edwards.

It’s unknown whether and to what extent they were intoxicated.  In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.

  1. Florio.. I continue to admire you relentless ability to speculate and then write reports based on it.

  2. the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.
    ________
    And coked up. Guaranteed.

  3. And now, we all discover why D’Brick has been inconsistent, and Gholston has always been crap… real athletes cannot be booze hounds.

  4. There’s a pattern developing here. Call him a prude if you want, but when Tony Dungy called out Rex Ryan for his foul language, he was pointing to the lack of class being projected by a leader in the Jets organization. And now, that lack of class is showing itself amongst the players. The ugly Revis holdout and all the rumors. The incident with the reporter. And now, Braylon Edwards. Reminds me too much of the Mike Tice years in Minnesota — lots of talented players, and a coach considered a rising star in the game planning department, but whose team fell apart at the seams because of stupid off the field controversies that never should have happened. It’s apparent too many of those players don’t place the image and well being of the team over themselves, and the results are showing.

    Sloppy speculation on Florio’s part.

  6. It’s unknown whether and to what extent they were intoxicated. In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.
    ====================
And in many cases they’re not.Either way, you have absolutely no evidence that they were or weren’t. And frankly, it’s not relevant
They’re both of legal age, right? Tuesday is an off day for NFL players, right? So what, exactly, would they be doing wrong if they were drunk?

  7. You mean to tell me these three millionaire rocket scientists couldn’t pool their substantial salaries and sprung for a cab. Astonishing!
    Typical J-E-T-S, Stoopid, Stoopid, Stoopid!!!

  8. look at this three posts today when something bad happens but when we win …nothing….this site is a bunch of bull

  9. What a bunch of idiots. The Jets have spent what, $100,000,000.00 or so on payroll this year? Forget for a moment that he could have killed an innocent person or two (or more). What if they wrecked and took out all three for the year? Sheesh. Personally, I’ve been in a bar maybe ten times in the last five years, each time to go in and drag out a drunken friend and drive them home. That’s where I do my drinking, HOME. Don’t these clowns make enough to feed their families And call a cab?

  10. wow…this is what you get when discipline is not even a remote priority on a team. If I were Ryan, I would bench all three for part of the game. There are a lot of “me, not team” guys on the Jets. 3 guys out at 5:00A.M. and their collective IQs were not capable of figuring out they needed a different way home. Were the Jets off today, or were these three dirtbags planning on showing up for work smashed? ZERO DISCIPLINE, ZERO TEAMWORK. Rex needs to fix this team or it will get worse as the season moves along

  11. The HARD KNOCKS keep coming. The atmosphere created by Rex Ryan is wreaking havoc throughout the Jets Team. Nothing ever good happens after 12am, ask Plex

  12. The possibilities to RIP these sorry ass players is endless…LOL…
What a trio of dumbass losers…

  13. Wow just wow, maybe the Jets should call Marvin Harrison for his gun and just shoot themselves in the feet.

  14. Those two players won’t get any legal action but in many ways they are just as much to blame from the team standpoint.
I make like 70k a year and call a cab when I’m drunk downtown. If I was a millionaire I’d have a chauffer that I paid to drive an awesome car in really awesome ways while I sit shotty drinking expensive booze that I just throw into some ridiculously elaborate trap door if we get pulled over.
Seriously. If any of these players wants to hire me to teach them how to not be stupid they can have me for 80k a year.

  15. These guys are even bigger Idiots then Edwards. I mean to KNOWINGLY let a guy who is HAMMERED drive a car. But trust me, no matter what the Jets say publically, Ole Rexy will be Honoring these fools come tomorrow.

  16. In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.
I dont know if thats true mike, im my circle we let the guy with the most priors drive. Why mess up a squeaky clean image

  17. “the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.”
Probably true, but assuming so in print without anything more than circumstantial evidence is quite sensational, if not irresponsible.

  18. making up whatever u want to hear florio i wouldnt be surprised if gholston and dabrickashaw had less to drink than edwards u need to back up ur statements with facts

  19. Who cares if they were intoxicated? Last I checked, it was legal for adults to drink alcohol and ride as passengers in a vehicle.

  20. MORE SUSPENSIONS!! WAHOOOO!!!
Don’t stop Florio!! Keep ’em coming!
    More Jests posts!
    Rename this site: Jets Talk.com

  21. Those two teammates should be suspended for letting him drive. Don’t these guys make enough money to get a limo?!?!

  22. It’s unknown whether and to what extent they were intoxicated.  In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.
Maybe you should wait for facts before posting things like this

  23. J-E-T-S! DRUNK! DRUNK! DRUNK!!!! Does this surprise anyone from a CLASSLESS,and winless organization, lead by a fat obnoxious moron?? C’mon sexy Rexy,C’mon down south for your annual asswhippin!! Bart Scott, you have a target on you and his name is LOUSAKA POLITE!! Remember he parked you in the cheap seats last year. Get ready!!!

  24. He could be headed back to Cleveland.
…for violating his parole. He is still on probation for that scuffle he got into with Lebron James’ pint-sized friend.
Congrats on going back to jail Braylon. You’re a true New York wide receiver now!

  25. Can you start treating the Jet’s like you do Cincinnati now that they’re obviously paying for signing known trouble makers.

  26. “In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.”
Gee, it took a whole lot of effort to make that assumption. If this were ESPN, you would get a “COME ON MAN!”

  27. I’m so glad this is happening to a Rex Ryan coached team, keep piling on the bad news it’s getting awesome to watch the train wreck.

  28. Braylon,
1st off, you were a TERRIBLE fantasy pick-up. What was I thinking? Zero points in week 1, really? Zero?
2nd, those yellow things all around Manhattan are called Cabs and they’ll take you places you want to go for a small fee.

  29. So 3 people in the car could’ve sprung for a cab or limo ride, and failed to do so. Not a sensible thought to be found among them.

  30. I can’t believe that these Jets Players lack discipline when their head coach is the pure embodiment of self discipline, himself.

  31. If I were a Jet fan I would be LIVID that the franchise Left Tackle was in a car with a drunk driver…

  32. I would lose my shiz as the owner of the Jets if three of my players were out cruising the streets drunk. Nothing like having millions of your invested dollars sunk into three soaks getting hammered on a Monday night.

  33. “In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.”
Oh come on Florio, I’m sure those two are responsible members of society that were completely clueless as to Braylon’s level of intoxication!

  34. hahahaha! .16 is loaded. and some think this team is in contention. bench him for the rest of the year and go sign “the sichuwayshun” from dancing with the stars to play wideout.

  35. It’s unknown whether and to what extent they were intoxicated. In many cases, when the driver of a car is at 0.16 percent blood alcohol concentration, the other folks in the car who aren’t driving are even more messed up.
    ————————————————————
I assume you can provide empirical data to support such a potentially libelous statement?

  36. No wonder there wasn’t any collisions with a drunk driver behind the wheel. Vernon Gholston was in the car…

  37. Now it seems like they were the 3 stooges, leave all of them in New Jersey for the next road trip, I am sure Miami won’t miss them. Bill

  38. Did you hear the breaking news?
Braylon actually tried to catch a few cabs, but after several drops he conceded and they all hopped into his car!

  39. Or maybe they weren’t as messed up and didn’t wanna DUI so they talked ole chugsy ugsy into doing the ole glug glug vroom vroom.

  40. This is very similar to the Chris Henry incident of ’06. He was loaded driving Odell Thurman and Reggie McNeal.
    A motley crew.

  41. So there two other players in the car.
That makes it three times as stupid.
    However… The point should be…
There were probably 100 people in cars coming from the other direction at a combined 90 MPH… 7 feet 3 inches left of his double vision.
