It’s been quiet on the Albert Hanyesworth front of late.
Perhaps the Redskins see that as progress, but we see a team getting nothing out of the highest paid defensive player in football and it’s difficult to see any positives in that.
Haynesworth’s ankle is healthy again. He practiced fully the last two days and one of his fellow backups at nose tackle (Anthony Bryant) will miss the game with a concussion. So Haynesworth is a lock to play, right?
“You could go with five or six [linemen] or a combination of different people,” Shanahan said Friday via the Washington Post. “Jim [Haslett], in his history has gone with five defensive linemen. We’ve gone with six all through preseason [and] the regular season games. It obviously depends on what our game plan is.”
Shanahan is essentially saying that Haynesworth is the sixth most important defensive lineman on the team. His playing status depends on the matchup.
Yet the Redskins still want a high draft pick in exchange for him.
UPDATE: Haynesworth is listed as questionable officially. Also questionable: Clinton Portis, Trent Williams, LaRon Landy, and Kareem Moore.
