Vikings hope to get two corners back

Fear not, Minnesota Vikings fans.  Help is on the way.

Sure, Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith is still somewhere cackling maniacally about not letting Vincent Jackson go anywhere, but at least your Vikings are getting healthy on defense.

Two of the team’s top cornerbacks could be returning to the lineup Sunday, notes Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500. Rookie Chris Cook practiced fully all week and seems certain to play despite his “questionable” tag.  The team could also get back starter Cedric Griffin, who hasn’t played since tearing his ACL in the NFC Championship last year.

Griffin was limited in practice this week, but took a lot of snaps with the starting unit.  If he doesn’t return Sunday, it appears he’ll be back soon.

Also on the Vikings injury report: wide receivers Bernard Berrian (knee) and Percy Harvin (hip.)  Harvin practiced again Friday and his migraines don’t appear to be an issue.

For the Lions, wide receiver Nate Burleson (ankle), linebacker Zack Follett (concussion) and quarterback Matthew Stafford (right shoulder) are all out.  Defensive end Cliff Avril (knee/finger), linebackers Landon Johnson (neck) and
DeAndre Levy (groin) and guard Stephen Peterman (foot) are questionable.

Oh, and that Favre guy is probable with a right elbow injury.

“Just a right elbow,” coach Brad Childress said. “Might as well list it before he talks about it.”

  1. Training at Vikings stadium was delayed after a player found an unknown white powdery substance on the ground. Training was suspended while police and Homeland Security was called in. After analysis, experts determined that the white substance, unfamiliar to most of the players, was in fact the goal line. Practice will resume this afternoon after they decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

I’m not even a Viking fan but I must say that a lot of New Orleans fans are quickly becoming just as disgusting as Packer fans have been for generations, and we all know how insecure and uneducated they portray themselves as.

    LOL, so true.

  4. The worst part of the Vikings is that I picked AP in the first round of fantasy football. My, what a mistake that was…..

Umm, when you win the Super Bowl you earn the right to talk like champs!–>So get use “TWO DAT”

  6. There’s a reason Saints fans rip the Vikings. Deep down, they know the refs handed them the NFCC game. Why else would they be so insecure?

The packers fan base isnt remotely close to as bad as Vikings fans, but would agree Saints fans winning their first lombardi is making them as bad as vikes, eagles, and steelers fans.

  8. Awww…isn’t this cute! Look Viking fans….we have adopted some 3 toothed, inbred Saints fans. Brad and Angelina would be proud of us. It’s the least we could do being they are too retarded to find their own threads….

What annoys me the most is they forget only a few years ago they were the laughing stock of the NFL. They have one good year, and the fans act like they have been the best team for ten years straight.

fans will be fans its all in good fun …. i am a football fan if the saints were 0-16 ide still go to the saints .. and if they dont play in the playoffs i still watch the playoffs and still root for who ever i like .. its a joke .. you cant expect all football fans to be uptight , snobby people .. i find it just as funny when my saints are the center of the joke .. its all in good fun thats it

  11. If a rookie and a guy coming off a blown out knee less than a year ago are your best corners…..then you’re in some bad shape.

  12. Chris Cook will have more TD’s off INTs on defense than the Vikings WR’s have on offense after Sunday’s game. Book it.

  13. If your team is counting on Bernard Berrian to carry the load. Then your season is in big trobule.
Just ask any chicago fan. Berrian would be a number 4 in chicago and a practice squad in detriot or greenbay.

  14. Did you know that if you look up team rankings the viking are ranked dead last overall.
    Yup dead last.. true story!

  15. How has everyone missed the real nugget in the article? Childress calling out Favre for his tendency to talk about every injury he has? As in “may as well list it before he talks about it”
And for all those Vikings fans who are whining about Saints fans talking about their two game win streaknagainst your team? Man up. Theybwon the right to talk smack when they won those two games. You can say it was close, you can say it was the refs, you can say what you want, you can change the fact your team lost. Twice. So suck it up buttercups.

  16. Who said the defense was the problem in Minnesota? I think they are all a bunch of d-bags over there but if people think the D is at fault for 0-2 then they are seriously mistaken. I guess if the addition of two CBs can get the defense to pitch shutout week after week it might result in a couple of 3-0 wins. Oh wait, that’s right, Childress doesn’t even realize that he can kick field goals in the NFL.

  17. A string of the hypocritical Viking fans again? It’s funny how you apply one set of rules to yourselves and another one to everybody else. Just take a look at every Saints thread since the SuperBowl and you’ll see several whining Viking fans spewing crap. Stop being such pussys and live with it.
Hey Perv, still waiting on your latest prediction. Since the last, I don’t know, 20 have been wrong I need to know what to bet on this weekend. As for me I do not make predictions, “my hypocrisy only goes so far.”

  18. I believe all these Aint fans are the same guy….unless computers got looted along with the tv’s during (sshh…Katrina lol)

  19. “You can say it was close, you can say it was the refs, you can say what you want, you can change the fact your team lost. Twice. So suck it up buttercups.”
So, by that token, since the Vikings humiliated the Packers the last two times the teams played, the Green Bay fans that hang out here should really shut their ignorant mouths, right?
    Nah. . .I’m guessing that’s somehow different.
    Morons.

  20. Defense doesn’t seem to be the issue. Can we make Chris Cook a wideout? Then put Percy back in the slot where he belongs?

  21. they need a qb. they will never win with this old bum! i see all the young qb’s the vikings passed on and i laugh at them!

No, it’s because idiots like you keep whining like the loser bitches that you are.
Talk about insecure, only you queenies, out of all fans in “footballdom”, have whined for 9 months about completely retarded conspiracy theories.
You lost because you weren’t the better team. Good teams don’t hack up the ball 5 times. Those teams are what the rest of the world calls LOSERS.
Yes, some of us Two Dats on this board are obnoxious….to queenies, because we’ve listened to you whine for entirely too long. Hell, now that you got beat by us in EVERY STATISTICAL CATEGORY (since that’s what you morons keep basing your retarded arguments on) in addition to the actual score, you’d think that you morons would STFU and take your medicine.
But then, that would be giving you credit for intelligence. My bad.

Amen. Can’t imagine that the Vikes would be “classy” if they had beat us in the season opener. Like Nola whodat said: Fans will be fans. All my smack talk has been directly motivated by the guarantees that so many Vikes fans gave prior to both games, and not in a classy manor. So you are right dirtdawg, get use to it and suck it up–>It isn’t stopping until the new kings are crowned(Or crowned again, hehe).
    WHO DAT??

Yeah ok Saints fans. You act like you destroyed the Vikings both times. You sneaked by barely. So STFU!
    =============================
Yeah, those moral victories really fill the trophy case.

  25. I’m not a Saints fan but to all of the Viking fans who think the refs handed the Saints the NFC title: stop your whining.
Had you not turned the ball not 1,not 2, not 3, not even 4 but 5 turnovers in that game, you most likely would have defeated the Saints. But the bottom line is you didn’t, plain and simple.

Is that why we don’t get crap when we talk about our two win streak against the Packers, from Packer fans? …. oh wait. The hypocrites are multiplying!
