Fear not, Minnesota Vikings fans. Help is on the way.
Sure, Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith is still somewhere cackling maniacally about not letting Vincent Jackson go anywhere, but at least your Vikings are getting healthy on defense.
Two of the team’s top cornerbacks could be returning to the lineup Sunday, notes Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500. Rookie Chris Cook practiced fully all week and seems certain to play despite his “questionable” tag. The team could also get back starter Cedric Griffin, who hasn’t played since tearing his ACL in the NFC Championship last year.
Griffin was limited in practice this week, but took a lot of snaps with the starting unit. If he doesn’t return Sunday, it appears he’ll be back soon.
Also on the Vikings injury report: wide receivers Bernard Berrian (knee) and Percy Harvin (hip.) Harvin practiced again Friday and his migraines don’t appear to be an issue.
For the Lions, wide receiver Nate Burleson (ankle), linebacker Zack Follett (concussion) and quarterback Matthew Stafford (right shoulder) are all out. Defensive end Cliff Avril (knee/finger), linebackers Landon Johnson (neck) and
DeAndre Levy (groin) and guard Stephen Peterman (foot) are questionable.
Oh, and that Favre guy is probable with a right elbow injury.
“Just a right elbow,” coach Brad Childress said. “Might as well list it before he talks about it.”
