Titans starting cornerback Jason McCourty undergoes surgery

Second-year Titans cornerback Jason McCourty won a battle royale for a starting job in training camp, but now he’ll have to watch from the sideline for a while.

Terry McCormick of TitansInsider reports that McCourty underwent surgery on a broken forearm Tuesday.  He will miss 3-4 weeks.  McCourty nabbed his first interception against the Giants before suffering the injury.

Promising rookie Alterraun Verner will start in McCourty’s place, but the team’s depth is suspect after that.  The Titans host the Broncos Sunday; Denver leads the league in passing yards through three weeks.

  1. Um, Manuich1, you do realize the Titans would be 3-0 if they hadn’t “handed” the Steelers a game, right?
The Titans made big plays on defense when they needed to, just as the Steelers did against the Titans a week ago.
I wonder how many teams have been -6 in turnover ratio for the day and still had a chance to tie it at the end? I’d guess very few. That’s why I thought the Steelers game was very positive for the Titans–they were still in the ball game despite the fact that the bounces just didn’t go their way.
Broncos may win – but I’m sick of the “You didn’t win the game, the other team lost the game” argument.

  2. fact is we imposed out will on the giants and they eventually cracked (like most teams will)..look forward for more of the same vs denver.

  3. Say hello to Alterraun Verner, he is going to be a star in this league. Always flying, always around the ball making things happen.
