We try to avoid the whole love-life angle of reporting on the NFL, unless there’s an off-field issue that could create a distraction for the player or his team.
When the issue involves one of the biggest names in the game, that’s a factor, too.
The folks at TMZ.com claim to have a photo of Gisele Bundchen, the wife of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, getting cozy with a man who definitely isn’t Tom Brady.
It’s hard to tell what happened immediately before or after the picture was taken at an event in Paris. But at the instant the shutter snapped, whatever was happening will require at a minimum a detailed explanation, other than “what happens in Paris stays in Paris.”
Brady is intensely private and likely will never comment on the situation. But it would be foolish not to at least consider the possibility that this issue could create a possible distraction for him as the 2010 season heats up.
UPDATE: An explanation via what purports to be Mrs. Brady’s official Twitter page. “Guys, the photos of the Vogue party show Gisele with a longtime friend,” says the caretaker of the page. “The angle in the photo is causing malicious comments.”
