Lions fine Delmas for flashing digit

During Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Vikings, Lions safety Louis Delmas gave a one finger salute involving the one finger next to the finger used to indicate, “We’re No. 1.”

Though the league typically imposes fines in such circumstances, the Lions have taken the initiative.  Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team has fined Delmas $5,000.

Delmas directed his gesture to the Metrodome crowd.

  1. Knowing the Viking fans, I can well imagine that it was something vulgar and low class directed at Delmas just prior to the incident. When you are surrounded by scum bags, you tend to act like one.

  2. This guy is pathetic….he gets fined for late hits and flips the bird….what a tool…..feel bad for the Lions and their fans for having to put up with this clown when there team is much improved and heading in the right direction if stafford stays healthy.

  3. He was probably just flashing the number of tackles he had on Peterson’s 80 yard run, or maybe the number of minutes he fell behind Peterson on the dash to the endzone.

  4. if they really wanted to punish him, they would have signed him to a long term extension to stay in detroit.
    badaaa-boom!!!

  6. all you purple pooper pokers are really good at talkin smack and takin cheap shots–just remember to grab something to drink to wash down all that bs (or just choke on it) when we start kickin your teams ass on a regular basis, it’s comming and you know it!!

  7. Hey JimmySmith, I’ll bet he does that @ Lambeau this Sunday as well considering Packer fans are drunk enough to do dumb things. I don’t think there is 1 sober fan @ Lambeau Field.

Give it a rest “Tony Dungy” – The Bears fans hurl out n bombs, The Pack fans go after rivals … its the rivalry and frustration spills out on the field. Delmas is a good safety , who lays the smackdown. Its been a hard time in Detroit. No excuse for that, but whatever. Like you havent cursed or given someone the finger. PUHLEAZE.

  9. Poor Lions, all those #1 picks and no wins to show for it.
    GO PACKS!!!

Actually, there isn’t one sober fan in all of Wisconsin…

  11. Ask any visiting team fan’s which stadium in the NFC North they get treated the worst and without a question it would be in the Humpty Dumbty Dome. If ever there were a bunch fans that deserved the bird it’s the CryQueens fans. The Jerks.

    Note:
It is now called Mall of America Field and not the Metrodome.

You cannot expect Florio to know that. Gotta remember, he is busy worrying about how much playing time Edwards is going to get.

Don’t the Packer fans moon the opposing team’s bus when they arrive? That sounds high class and non vulgar.

Actually, Delmas is a fan favorite. Any guy that hits like that should be. Tell me when he was fined for hitting late? I know he got fined for jacking up Finley last year when he short-armed a pass from Aaron Rodgers (because he knew he was about to get destroyed). Other than that why dont you fill us in on the other fines….
He’s not nearly as bad as that cheapshot artist Jared Allen but everyone loves that b!tch cause he’s an aww sucks good ol’ cuntry boy.

You both spelled it wrong. It’s spelled “somber,” as in; “there isn’t one somber fan in Wisconsin.”
And why should there be? We have the best team in the NFC and we’re gonna kick ass all the way to the Superbowl. Somber? Hell no….flying high is more like it.

  17. I’m a Vikings season-ticket holder and the only visiting team fans I have ever heard complain about the way they get treated are Packer fans. Some Miami Dolphin fans told me that Minnesota has some of the classiest fans they have seen. They are NOT friendly in Green Bay, I was at the Vikes-Pack game @ Lambeau last season & was there for the Monday Night game in 2005. One friend I was with got punched in the restroom just for wearing purple. Sad if you ask me. And another question, why do Packer fans hate rap music so much?

  18. he wont have to do it against the packers. nor their fans… Lions will win, and he will feel happy.

  19. packer fans are drunkards, they have no class… I’ve heard the same thing…. also they will do something but when someone else does the same or one ups them…. they cry like babies….. example… moss mooning the pack fans…. like they don’t get drunk and moon the bus for real… moss mimics and they cry wha wha……
Jimmy is one of them… think about it.

  20. and another thing….lol…. why is it packer fans talk trash all week…. then when they loose… they don’t dare show their face… their either puking their guts out or contemplating a noose…. i don’t know… it happens over and over… the loudest ones are the worse…. i monitor games the packers will be playing and read all of the trash… and like last monday night… hmmmmmmmmm they are no where to be found …. amazing…. they have no class… if you fans want to play with the men… then act like one…

Your Viking friend wasn’t punched in the restroom for wearing purple- it was because he wouldn’t get off his knees in the bathroom- and he had just finished with the Miami fan and didn’t charge him.
I’ve been to all three stadiums watching these teams pitted against each other. I’ve worn Bears gear at both GB and MIN several times, and the Viking fans are far more belligerent than GB. Each stadium has their assholes, but I’ve watched the Viking fans walk into both Chicago and Green Bay and stir things up.
Viking fans have a severe inferiority complex. No rich history or tradition. Zero Championships. The crappiest venue in professional sports, and fans that are one tier more loyal than those on the West Coast.
Twins fans are great. Probably because they have a couple of WS under their belt, and a great new stadium. Plus, they have a winning record this year.

  22. Hey frank booth-Try going to Philadelphia or Oakland wearing an opponents jersey, that would be putting your life at risk. You would NEVER think of that in Minnesota.

  23. Seems like the other NFC North fans are the only fans I have ever heard complaining about treatment in Minnesota. Fans of other teams have said to me that Minnesota has much friendlier fans than other places they have been. Maybe if the Packer & Bear fans would stop bringing on the verbal abuse themselves they wouldn’t have the issues. And you’ll find those assholes anywhere, especially when they’ve been drinking too much. My experiences at Lambeau show every single Packer fan being drunk. And Ambrose, it wasn’t misspelled. I did mean sober & not somber. Packer fans are not as great fans as they are great alcoholics.

You know, it would be an interesting stat to see, across the different stadiums in the NFL, the amount of people that get thrown out of games for being disorderly. Knowing that Philly would inevitably be at the top, I’d be willing to bet Chicago and GB would be up there too.
As for the Vikings, I’ve been to 20+ games and have seen someone thrown out ONCE, and it wasn’t even a Vikings fan.

  25. I’ve been to every Vikings home game since 2000 (missed most preseason games) and I rarely ever see fans getting thrown out or arrested. The worst I’ve seen was a drunk getting arrested at a 2004 game & a big fight in the stands at the Atlanta game in 2008. Other than that, the fans are very civilized. NFL games aren’t really a great family atmosphere, too many drunks make every stadium in the league to like an R Rated movie. At least MLB parks (except Yankees & White Sox home games) are family friendly.

  26. JimmySmith…I rarely write on here, but you seriously need to get a life. Just an observation.

GB fans sometimes do get thrown out….of road games. But not at Lambeau. That’s because we don’t take have to take any crap from anybody…home, away, or on this site. And I can honestly say..without question…amongst all fans of all road teams playing at Lambeau in the last 45 years, and I’ve seen them all thrown out….the worst and most obnoxious have always been Viking fans. But that is because of the convenient proximity of Lambeau to Minnesota, which would dictate a higher number of trouble-making Viking fan fringe dwellers. I don’t lump them all together. Strange thing is….Chicago is closer and I’ve never had run-ins with any of them.

  28. Hey Ambrose, maybe you’ve had run-in with Viking fans because you’re the one who instigated it. Or are you going to tell me that Packer fans never instigate?

You forgot to read this part: “….Chicago is closer and I’ve never had run-ins with any of them.” I can say this….I’ve ended many “incidents”, but I’ve never started any. And I’ve seen enough irritating Packer fans go too far as well, but rarely at Lambeau. There’s too many family lineage long-term season ticket holders and the risk of losing the tickets is too great. It usually happens in bars…all across the country. One thing to keep in mind when you see somebody wearing the green and gold anywhere in this great nation of ours…don’t *uck with us.

  30. @ Ambrose… Green and Gold…. LMFAO. No, you aren’t green and gold. You are green and yellow. Like puke and piss, got it?
Same goes to the Steeler fans. You guys must be colorblind.
49er’s and Saints wear gold. You guys wear yellow. Remember your place.

  31. Ambrose-The Pack fans may not start fights at Lambeau that much but when they come to the Dome it is a much different story. There’s been a few I’ve wanted to clock over the years but I don’t want to risk forfeiting my season tickets. I’m guessing this week you’ll be putting your New York Yankee pinstripes on as well.
