Donovan McNabb gets the last word

Donovan McNabb says all the right things in his press conferences.  (With some goofy things thrown in.)

In the locker room after Sunday’s win over the Eagles, Donovan McNabb said how he really feels to his news teammates.

“Everybody makes mistakes in their lives. And they made one last year,” McNabb said, according to FOXSports.

Awesome.

With the win by the Redskins, no NFC East team will have a winning record after four games.

  1. And in response the Eagles take a look at Jeff Garcia per Senior Editor Mike Florio.
Florio just couldn’t resist talking about Garcia again.

  2. LOL only a narcissistic oversensitive douche like McNabb would say that after the performance he had in that game.
Yes I am sure the Eagles wish they had a QB who could go 8/19 with about two good throws and let their run game and D do all the work. (rolls eyes).

  3. Judging by all the 4 yard passes he through in the dirt the Eagles sure did. Atleast the pick they got for him Nate Allen intercept one of his passes that actually sailed through the air.

  4. McNabb;s contribution to his last word was an 8 yd run with 3 1/2 min. to go his play was not a factor in the redskin victory.

  5. SOOOOOOOOO “classy”.
If I was a liability all day and completed 8 passes, I’d apologize, which he did to the defense in the locker room.
But that was ALL insincere, all for show. As usual with him. What he really wanted to do was rip the Eagles management, and he did. The rest was PC window dressing he did not mean. We know this.
But hey, he’s entitled to rip the owner and coach.
At least he could put together a coherent statement. In over a decade in Philly he could never adequately communicate a thought.
But he was a communications major at Syracuse…
The real villain, IMO, is Pam Oliver. She made an ass of her old has-been faded-looks self trying to bait Donovan after the game.

  6. his passer rating was a 60.2, The redskins won the game by there running. not by McNabb

  7. Well, he’s right… say all you want about McNabb’s less than stellar performance, but the guy won the game, and at the very least, the Redskins are tied for first in the division. As an Eagles fan, I really missed having him out there. Hopefully Vick didn’t tear anything in his chest so the Eagles can win games. Cause with Kolb, we might not see another Eagles win this season

  8. 8/19 125 yds 1 td 1 interception(to the guy the eagles got for him) and hes 34, plus the refs were terrible if anybody actually watched the game, teams still have the same record, vick is much better than mcnabb now, doesnt look like a mistake to me

  9. “Judging by all the 4 yard passes he through in the dirt the Eagles sure did. Atleast the pick they got for him Nate Allen intercept one of his passes that actually sailed through the air.”
Confused by jersey colors maybe? Wasn’t exactly a difficult play by Nate Allen that’s for sure. Not a great showing, regardless it was in a winning effort and Mcnabb is on the better team now. 2-0 in the East. HTTR oh and told ya so biatches.

  10. McNabb can talk all he likes, but the Foreskins will be no better than a 500 team by years end and the oldest team in the NFL to boot.

  11. Yeah the eagles made a mistake! Vick and Kolb are both better than McNabb. Andy is so in love with him he knew with the OL and the defense not being that good, that people would not be able to make excuses for McNabb anymore. Andy traded him so he wouldn’t look bad.

  12. All the philly fans straight trashed talked the skins all week on 106.7, but thats the NFL on any given Sunday you can get that ass beat….

  13. Now im no McNabb apologist but all you guys do is bad mouth McNabb. This man assisted his team in a win by throwing a TD that was actually a decent throw. Wins are not easy to come by in this league by any means. Philly made their bed by trading him and now you have to lie in it. Dont get mad because he came back to town and owned your butts. Take it in stride and go get prepared for next week.

  14. I guess his touchdown pass to Chris Cooley which was in fact the game winner, was not a factor either…..
Hopefully, Vick isn’t out long, the Eagles won’t win with Kolb.

  15. “Gets the last word” ? What? They won 17-12 in the 4th game of the season! I would hardly call that the last word. He looked like crap.

  16. The last word was him running out of bounds to stop the clock so….
Please, he is terrible and the Redskins will as many superbowls with him as the eagles did.

  17. CKL,
Not flashy stats, but a “W” nonetheless! And that’s all that really matters!

  18. LMAO @ the the haters hatin’.
McNabb was victorious in his return to the Stink….. and no one deserves that more than Philly fan!!

  19. Not sure what McNabb is talking about. He had a terrible game… missed wide open receivers all day. Am I missing something?

  20. As someone said to me. They would have never traded him to Washington if they(Eagles) thought he could beat them (Eagles). Well, 0-1 to start. Wouldn’t that be something if he beats them twice…or maybe even 3 times 😉

  21. Kolb isn’t better than anybody. Eagles will regret their decision for a long time. & Reid won’t be there much longer.

  22. Our QB is not so smart. The Fecals traded him last year, not this year.
Also, LOL at Fecals fans. Keep talking, we’ve won 3 of the last 4 at the Linc. The same Fecals fans that are complaining about Kolb’s performance are the ones that thought he was the second coming just a month ago…..

  23. All the philly fans straight trashed talked the skins all week on 106.7, but thats the NFL on any given Sunday you can get that ass beat….

  24. The hilarious thing about this whole retarded situation is that a) McNabb was below average this game, b) The Eagles are terrible, and c) The Redskins are terrible. Neither of these teams has a chance to make any noise, so who cares about McNabb/Vick/Kolb?? It’s a big joke.

  25. Vick won’t make it through the season if he even comes back.
I still can’t believe the Eagles traded McNabb for Kolb.
Vick is gone if not given the $$$. No one took charge for the Eagles. McNabb was clearly a leader and made plays throughout even when he was off due to the pressure and weak line.
With Campbell at the helm, Redskins lose by 7.

Ummm ,actually the Redskins are in first place (I would make safe guess very short lived) because both of their wins are over NFC East teams.

  27. 8-19 – 125 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT – 60.2 QB Rating
About what I expected from him.. then he says something dumb.. ahh, how the years pass and nothing changes.
Washington won the game DESPITE McNabb, not because of him.
He won, congrats to him, moreover congrats to his running backs and O-line who truly get the game ball for this one.

  28. Its so funny how everyone, I MEAN EVERYONE ( NFL ANALYST, LOCAL ANALYST, LOCAL FANS, DUMMYS ON 106.7 The FAN) counted out the Redskins. OBV you knuckled heads don’t know sh*t about football. Yeah you might have played a year or two, cough* cough* Lavar. Have faith in the Redskins, everyone was on the Eagles banwagon bc Vick played two ok games against two below than average squads. Redskins are NOT a below than average squad, and they showed that this afternoon. You seriously thought Vick was going to come out and embarrass the Redskins??? Please you saw what happened when he smelled the end zone!!! HTTR!!!!

  29. I can’t stand retards like BIG JB that come on to other teams message boards just to leave dumb comments. What-a-dummy.

  30. I must say I’m impressed with Mike Shanahan and Donovan. Face it, we all expected it to be a shootout between Vick, who like him or not, has been on a tear and McNabb, who has a boatload of reasons be motivated.
What do the Redskins do? They run it. Nothing fancy, just handoff and go. The first 5 plays for Washington were run plays totaling 42 yards. That’s over 8 yards per carry. Why the hell would you start throwing?? It seemed to me that the defense was completly caught off guard. When Philly finally started to bring more bodies to stop the run, McNabb thows over the defense for a nice 31 yard TD pass. It was a well executed game plan, and perhaps an example of a good coach getting out coached. As for McNabbs comment… Damn right. You always want to avoid sending players to a division rival… you sure as heck don’t send a player of McNabbs calibar to them. Just his knowledge of the team itself should be a deterant! The Eagles made a mistake and McNabb is right.
But hell what do I know, I didn’t know that the game ended after an overtime in the regular season.
Sorry had to get my shot in… I am a Cowboys fan afterall.

  31. you stay classy, Philly. good luck with Kolb leading your team. hope desean doesn’t complain much this week.

  32. If you’ve seriously watched the Redskins over the past few years, you’d understand that McNabb brings one thing to the table – – leadership, both in the locker room and on the field. He has been able to coalesce the remaining players and the new arrivals into a team – – in spirit and willingness to play for the TEAM – – that hasn’t been there for a few years.
So,in terms of stats and ratings, he isn’t the greatest QB in the NFL at this point, but he has the abilty to convince the others to become better performers than they were last year.
BTW: He got the game ball and loads of sincere hugs from his teammates in the lockert room after the game. Not bad for your “has been.”

  33. yea budddddiiiiii 1st place lets gooooo suckas….. where all dem hatas at man yall suckas out there hidin like some punks….vicks soft body got injured EARLY!!!!!!!neva late…
    HAIL BEEACHES

  34. The Eagles came out flat, got punched in the mouth, never got up. As it has been for the last 11 years, this comes down to coaching. This was a winnable game against a lousy opponent.
And McNabb knew it too. Suddenly the whole McChoke thing in the Super Bowl is put in perspective with the huge gaffe by Kolb and Reid right before the half. And who got shipped out of town to a lousy team?
After rooting for the Eagles for over 20 years, I’m now actively rooting against them. Not for McNabb’s sake, because he is a dope, too (and his wonderlic demonstrated that) but because time and time again, we get fed the same BS all the while asking us to fork over money to watch them play.

  35. Vick and Kolb better than Mcnabb? HAHA damn cuzin what you smokin? hahahahaha Hail to the Redskins hail victory, braves on a warpath fight for all DC…
2-0 in division suckas LETS GOOOOOO….. 1st place. Next is the sorry Giants man we sweepin this division… Aint nobody messin wit us y? CUZ WE DA BESSSSST…. where yall hatas at man all yall sayin we gonna lose as Philly… Man we put da dogg killer out da game in the first half man hes lucky we only broke 3 of his ribs cuz we had the hit out for him….all yall hatas out there got somethin to say man all I have to say is look at the NFC EAST standings look whos on top….ITS THE SKINS BABI say sumthin beatches
    HAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. Hang your heads Low Eeeglets, because you laid a big egg, How embarrassing, All the spoiled whiner Eeglet fans BooHooing because there team fell flat on there faces LOLOLOL

  37. McNabb – perfect TD throw to Cooley.
McNabb – perfect 51 YD Bomb to Armstrong who fell down or otherwise woulda scored.
Yea, he played awful. Hail!! LOL
Both of your savior QBs have been knocked out this year. Karma is a bitch.

  38. Considering the eagles expected Kolb to preform better than Mcnabb…yeahhh eagles made a huge mistake.

  39. Listen to all these haters…they’re probably mostly cry baby Eagles fans. McNabb and the Redskins out played your whole team including both of your over-rated quarterbacks. Guess it just goes to show how bad your team really is! HTTR!

  40. Rosenthal: “In the locker room after Sunday’s win over the Eagles, Donovan McNabb said how he really feels to his news teammates.”
“Everybody makes mistakes in their lives. And they made one last year,” McNabb said, according to FOXSports.
    “Awesome.”
Are you KIDDING? The man had a 60.2 passer rating. If you really think that’s “awesome,” well, enough said.
And for skins2win91 and Hogster, if you think McNabb outplayed anyone in that game, you’re drunk on the kool aid. With a QB rating of 60.2 you aren’t going to end up winning a whole lot. You sound like a bunch of losers who equate this game with winning a Super Bowl, or maybe you’re just surprised to actually have risen to the mediocre level of being a 2-2 team.

  41. Redskins are 2-2, headed for 7-9. Just like our sorry ass team without Vick.
Difference is, your team is about 10 years older at every position and is 2 years away from major rebuilding.
7-9 is your glory days. Enjoy it!

  42. Clinton Portis gave McNabb a memorial for his first game back in Philly – a little cup, inscribed “D. McNabb – participated”.

  43. @dawk, The point I was trying to convey was the fact that our quarterback did not do that well and we still managed to beat you. Also, even tho he had a rating that low he still did better then both of your quarterbacks. The Eagles, Vick, and even Kolb have been over hyped for weeks and all they were doing were beating up on sub-par teams. This just goes to show that they are not as good as everyones has been saying and this game means the Redskins this week are better then the Eagles. So, you sour cry-baby fans cannot take that away from us. 17>12 last time I checked…so just stop whining and be quiet.

  44. skins – Vick got hurt, so you can’t say he would or would not have come through. He may have won that, he may have been worse than Kolb and McNabb. We will never know. It’s an INC.
I can tell you that the gameplan sucked, was overly conservative. Reid played scared, as I predicted when I advised people to take the under.
The Skins showed what they are yesterday – they are gonna pound the run, play solid D, and make teams sustain long drives on them. They did that effectively. That works against the Eagles. Didn’t work against Houston or the Rams.
You can try to “Dilfer” it with McNabb, but Portis is no Lewis and that D (while solid) is no Ravens.
I respect that kind of gameplan, it plays to your strengths. You just can’t hail McNabb as the factor in the win when every shred of evidence shows that he was de-emphasized in the gameplan and played lousy against a D that can’t seen to tackle anyone.
And running out of bounds while showboating was classic McNabb idiocy. Get used to stuff like that.
    Just keep it real, OK?

  45. @ Mooch
Actually, you can very well hail McNabb as a factor on the lone fact that he threw essentially the game winning touchdown pass. Your quarterbacks did no such thing. Analyze it all you want, either way McNabb and the Redskins were superior to Vick/Kolb and the Eagles.

  46. Mr McNabb, First off, thank you for the last 11 seasons in Philadelphia but I take a little offense to this remark. Your output on Sunday against the Eagles is exactly why the Eagles decided to move on, you did just enough in the scriptted plays to cover your mistakes in a soft game. You ran for one first down later in the game and missed a completely open davis, the win, was from a very good redskin o-line, running game, and stellar Washington defense. If the Eagles and Redskins joined together and feild 22 men againt the 11 GB Packers, we both would have lost. The Eagles did not deserve to win this game at all, but on the last play, they almost won. Maybe Philly and McNabb can just shut up and move on. You really did show me that you are the same QB as you were in Philadelphia, I thought it was Reid, but you changed my mind. It was both of you……..

  47. “Actually, you can very well hail McNabb as a factor on the lone fact that he threw essentially the game winning touchdown pass. Your quarterbacks did no such thing. Analyze it all you want, either way McNabb and the Redskins were superior to Vick/Kolb and the Eagles.”
Yes, he was a factor, but not a major one. Did Cooley “lead the team to victory” because he caught it? For my money, your D and coaching won the day yesterday along with some good hard running by Portis and Torain. McNabb wasn’t particularly scary. He can hit guys off busted coverage, but can’t “make it happen” unless those glaring mistakes are made. Trust me, I watched him for a decade. He is what he is.
I think Andy was your MVP – he took 5 pts off the board.
Yesterday and this season answer a lot of questions about who was to blame for the constant miscues of the Reid-McNabb era. Right now, I’d say its 60-40 Reid. Then again, I would have preferred to have Gruden in here and give McNabb one more shot. Ideally, I would have gotten rid of both.

  48. “either way McNabb and the Redskins were superior to Vick/Kolb and the Eagles.”
And since the Skins are a middling squad that makes the Eagles below average. Which is why I wanted to trade McNabb – the team needs amjor overhaul and that is in process.
What would McNabb, throwing as he dis yesterday, have done for the Eagles yesterday? A team that has a D that can’t tackle, blows coverage? That has a swiss cheese OL?
He’d have lost that game to Jason Campbell, and probably been killed in the process.
The only way you keep McNabb is if the tea m is on the cusp. We ain’t.
Does that make sense? Get where I’m coming from?

  49. Actually a good receiver would have kept running or hopped up in reference to that throw to Fred Davis, but he found Cooley right after. And Armstrong shouldn’t have stumbled

  50. @ mooch
I guess I do get where you are coming from. But, coming from a team that has not had nearly the success that your team had with McNabb this past decade, anything is an improvement from Campbell’s pathetic tenure. I just never understood why Philly fans constantly bashed this man over and over when he is for the most part a proven winner. Grant it he did not produce in the big game but I would be ecstatic if the Skins made it that far that many times and were competitive every year. I guess you Eagle fans just need someone to blame and ridicule, I don’t know…whatever. So, I take the little successes and advancements from that era as a pretty big accomplishment thus far because in years past, we were a very tough team to cheer for (to say the least). But hey, at least Washington has 3 Lombardi trophies on display back in D.C. 🙂
