Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with a left ankle injury. Smith was unable to apply pressure on his leg after the injury.
The Panthers lead in New Orleans 14-13 with time running out in the third quarter, proving once again that division rivalry games often wind up a lot closer than they look on paper.
Smith had two catches for 11 yards before leaving.
