Unintended tweet sparks rumors of Moss-to-Minny move

Bill Simmons of ESPN is reporting, sort of, the existence of rumors regarding a trade that would send receiver Randy Moss from the Patriots back to the Vikings.

Wow.

Making the situation even more intriguing is the fact that Simmons inadvertently put the information on his Twitter page at a time that he was intending to send out the information as a direct message only.

Let the chase begin.

  1. which mean brent is seriously thinking about not coming back after the bye, and wilff/childress are going to sell off whatever piece of the future that they have to to get favre and his broken ankle back at any cost

  2. Holy crap! As a Pats fan I would want something HUGE for it. If we got maybe a 1st round pick and maybe a little more then I wouldn’t be totally against it… but I love Randy and don’t want to see him leave.

  3. I would spluge my pants and get a new randy jersey my little kid one won’t fit anymore lol

  4. WooHoo! a much needed asset coming home. Let’s just hope he’s tempered his low speed road rage…
    LOVE IT!!!

  5. Desperate times in Minnesota where they went all in for a first-ever title and new stadium …
They’ll be more desperate at 1-3 when Favre plays Y.A. Tittle, circa 1963, at The New + Improved Swamp next Monday.

  6. Now that this has been posted, the trade will never happen.
Nothing kills a potential trade faster than the media getting wind of it first.

  7. didn’t know Belichick wanted to give the division to the Jets without even a fight…. that makes it less fun.

  8. I don’t believe any bit of it. If true though, it shows that Sidney Rice won’t be back anytime soon and could possibly end up on IR.

  9. That idiot Spielman will probably trade 4 2nd rounders for Moss since he traded a 2nd for that all-pro quarterback in AJ Feeley

  10. Everyone know Randy is still god in minnesota, i have had season tickets since i was 3 to the vikings….People still have a place in there heart for him. After he retired he will be remembered as a Vikings and his 20+ touchdown season….SKOL do the right thing Vikings win one so i can die a happy man

  11. I really don’t see this happening. First of all, BB and Chilly don’t have the best history. Remember the signings of eachothers practice squad players and then releasing them? Moss knows the offense better than anyone besides Brady. He still has a lot to offer even as a decoy. The Pats play Minny in a few weeks too. The Pats have 2 firsts and 2 seconds in the 2011 draft, and I don’t think a guy like Jared Allen is on the trade block. So in my opinion this rumor is nothing but B.S. It doesn’t make sense.

  13. Never happen. The fact that Childress in his infinite wisdom traded Jamie Mitchell to the Browns for a can of pop and a day old Crispie Creame donut would mean to get Moss, Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and Antoine Winfield are headed to New England. Will not happen.

  14. Can’t see Bill doing this without raking the Vikings over the coals. That being said it will probably happen.

  15. New England already has two first round picks for 2011 and the Pats haven’t yet traded any of their 2011 draft picks. It will be interesting to see what the Patriots can get from the Vikings for Moss if the deal goes through.

  16. And yet again, the Pats get stronger (presumably). Say what you want about BB, he certainly knows how to stock-pile draft picks–and evaluate talent.

  17. If they trade including one of the Williams roid boys will they then have to sit the 4 game suspension as they’ll no longer be under the MN State Judge ruling umbrella?

  18. Ah, the sweet smell of desperation. This keeps getting better and better.

You’re not going to get anything huge for him.
Maybe a 2…definitely not a 1. It’s just not going to happen for a guy who is as old as Randy and who is clearly not going to be resigned next season.
I’ll tell ya what though….as a Jets fan, I’m all for Randy leaving.
Who’s your #1 without Randy? Welker? I don’t think so. Wes is great, but he’s not a #1. He needs someone to stretch the field to be most effective.
This would be a very, very dumb move by the Pats.
    DO IT!

  20. @12+81=7: You’re not gonna get a #1 for Moss…he is a free agent at the end of the year…no one will give you a #1 right now.

  21. hey i hope it happens cuz bret aint afraid of throwing him the ball and brady is.brady only threw it to him once last night

What has shown you that Bill knows how to evaluate talent?
He’s a GREAT coach, but his biggest flaw would have to be evaluating talent in the draft.

  23. with Moss in the last year of contract, my guess is a 3rd or 4th rd pick … which Belichick will somehow turn into a 2nd rd pick on draft night

  24. The only reason this cat got out of the bag is because Bill Simmons didn’t want it to happen.

  25. how is it desperate to want one of the most dangerous deep threats in the NFL?? You guys are desperate in trying to make favre and the vikings look as bad as possible, pathetic. I am not even a vikings fan!
