Two days from game day, Jets bring in a former Viking

Well, well, well.

With the Vikings coming to town for a Monday night game, the New York Jets have decided to sign to their practice squad a player whom the Vikings released from their practice squad on Wednesday.

Receiver Logan Payne has joined the Jets, the team announced today.

The move fits with the Jets’ m.o. of bringing in players who were dumped by their next opponent.

Payne had signed with the Vikings on September 5, so he was there long enough to know enough to help the Jets finalize their game plan against the Vikings.

In turn, the Jets cut running back Xavier Omon from the practice squad.  Maybe the Vikings will now sign him.

  2. Just like the Jets fabricating these recent allegations against Favre that even though they allegedly occurred years ago, they magically appear this week, they play dirty again. The Pats have nothing on these Jets. Karma is a bitch Jet fans, and the big let down is coming.

  8. This is the Jets MO? they did once before the patriots game last year, and signed a dolphins WR weeks (plural) before they played them.

Rex Ryan and the Jets coaching staff are to me lazy and dont want to do scouting and research thats why they resort to signing players from teams they are suppose to meet in order to get information about their scheme..Thats too cheap. If you dont need the player dont sign them and cut them after you play the team they came from.
    The Jets should grow up , am just sick of hearing these kind of stuff

I guess when he’s bored he runs-his-mouth. His buddy Cromartie has what, 6 kids with 6 different women -that he knows of- although there’s a couple he forgets…and don’t ask him to remember their names. AND THESE PRICKS HAVE THE AUDACITY TO INVESTIGATE FAVRE???

  22. So Xavier Oman lost his job so the Jets can have Logan Payne at practice for one week to tell Rex Ryan that the Vikings plan to run Adrian Peterson and throw the ball to Randy Moss.

  23. As a Vikings fan, I think our coaching is Suspect at best. Therefore , I could not form an opinion on Rex and the Jets. Is this a strategy that works? I doubt it, but I cannot agree with Juicy Melon more. I think through all the talentless receivers the Vikings have played with so far. I am really surprised they didnt give this kid a look. He seems to be a hell of alot more talented than Greg Lewis or Hank The Tank Baskett…..

The only problem with this theory is most teams don’t allow practice squad players in on game planning or anything relevant that would help the Jets anymore than a good advance scout would know. So Logan won’t be able to help that much so read Pat Kirwans book if you want to understand the gamesmanship of football.

  36. Disappointed with the Vikings fans’ comments on here. Let’s remember that Logan Payne was a part of the team (kind of) well before Moss was acquired. You would be hard pressed to find someone trying to argue that the offense hasn’t changed since Moss is back.
    This is an irrelevant move that PFT blew out of proportion… don’t get me wrong I am not that PFT hater that is so prevalant – I love these kind of deep deep type of stories.
    Honestly though, this signing means nothing, and it’s gonna be a helluva game on Monday. A must win for my Vikes!

  39. This tactic is pretty useless when playing against the Vikings.
    Chilly probably doesn’t know what hes going to try yet, mostly cuz Brett Favre hasn’t told him and Favre was also missing practice this week so he could put on his GM hat and make a trade. He is a TERRIBLE coach, with some solid players.
    Brett Favres age is really starting to show, and thats not the only thing hes showing.

    Captain, seriously, take a breath. The Jets aren’t investigating Favre. The Jets don’t give a rat’s a** about who Favre is sending photos to. It’s the League that is looking into it.
