Aaron Rodgers returns to practice

The good news for the Packers is that quarterback Aaron Rodgers has returned to practice after missing Wednesday’s session with a concussion.

The bad news is that, for a quarterback, clearance to practice and clearance to play following a concussion are two very different things.

Last week, for example, doctors cleared Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to practice only three days after being treated like a squirrel carcass in an overcrowded kennel. But Cutler didn’t receive clearance to play on Sunday at Carolina.

On Wednesday, coach Mike McCarthy said that Rodgers’ status could be determined later in the week.

If Rodgers can’t play, Matt Flynn would get the start. There’s no other quarterback on the roster; Graham Harrell undoubtedly would be promoted from the practice squad to back up Flynn on game day against the Dolphins.
