Jeff Otah heads to injured reserve

One day after seemingly hitting bottom, the Panthers season got even more depressing Tuesday.

The team placed tackle Jeff Otah on injured reserve after waiting for him to recover from knee surgery since the middle of August. It was originally announced as “arthroscopic” surgery, but clearly more has gone on if he hasn’t been able to return to the field.

The 2008 first-round pick played like a Pro Bowler when healthy last year. The Panthers had three roster spots open and claimed running back Andre Brown off waivers from Indianapolis, and re-signed RB Josh Vaughan and LB Abdul Hodge.

It looks like Mike Goodson will start at running back for the Panthers Sunday.
