Ray Rice says he gave officer autograph only after getting warning

Pro athletes routinely claim that they’ve been misquoted.

Sometimes, they even claim that they have misquoted themselves.

That’s essentially what Ravens running back Ray Rice said today, according to the Baltimore Sun.

His Monday night Twitter message says he persuaded a police officer not to give him a ticket for having windows that were tinted too dark by offering the officer an autograph for his son.  After the tweet was deleted but also after the cat was out of the bag, Rice said that he offered the autograph only after he was told he was getting a warning.

He said he received no special treatment.

But if he traded an autograph for a warning, it’s not special treatment.  It’s a bribe.
