Last week Cardinals running back Beanie Wells missed practice with swelling in his knee, then played Sunday just long enough to get one carry for minus-two yards. This week Wells is still sitting out practice because of that problematic knee, but he says it’s getting better.
So does that mean he can play on Sunday?
“That’s a tough question,” Wells told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “I don’t think I have practice to be out there playing a lot more than I played last week.”
If Wells can’t play Sunday against the Seahawks a lot more than he played in the loss to the Vikings, there’s not much sense in having him active for the game. He did the Cardinals more harm than good last week.
The Cardinals also have several banged-up players on defense, including linebackers Clark Haggans (groin), Paris Lenon (ankle), Will Davis (knee) and Joey Porter (knee), as well as defensive end Darnell Dockett (shoulder) and safety Kerry Rhodes (hand).
