Ramsey signed by Dolphins; Sparano hopeful about Henne

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that the Dolphins signed Patrick Ramsey on Monday, as expected. Ramsey is expected to be Tyler Thigpen’s backup when the Dolphins face the Bears on Thursday Night Football.

The Dolphins are hopeful Ramsey and possibly Thigpen will get bumped down the depth chart before long. Despite a report in Miami that said Henne was “more than likely” out for the season, Sparano says the team is hopeful Henne will be back sooner than later. Sparano was asked if that report was accurate.
“I would say at this particular time that is not accurate,” Sparano said via the Miami Herald.

Of course, Sparano isn’t the most forthcoming source. This was his quote on Chad Pennington’s season-ending shoulder injury:

“At this particular time it looks like Chad Pennington’s injury is going to be long-term,” Sparano said.

Sparano wants to call Henne’s injury “day-to-day” for now. Albert Breer of the NFL Network believes Henne will have a “short term” injury.

The question now becomes whether Henne will even get his job back when he’s healthy. If the Dolphins are still in playoff contention, that will have meant that Thigpen helped the team win like he did Sunday against Tennessee.
