Sidney Rice declares himself ready to go

The decision is in.

After declining to talk with the Minnesota media Friday, Sidney Rice told ESPN’s Ed Werder that he’s going to play.   (Rice has been taking media tips from Brett Favre.)

“I’m going to play,” Rice said.  “I don’t think I can go the whole game but I’m going to play as much as I can.”

Vikings coach Brad Childress said that the team would place Rice on injured reserve if he didn’t play Sunday.  That likely forced Rice’s hand and the receiver isn’t ready to call it quits on the 2010 season.

  1. So when Rice seriously re-injures the hip on Sunday, Childress is going to hide behind the “hey, he made the call” thing right?

  2. Earn a new contract… 2 weeks you better be playing full games and scoring weekly…………Fantasy Playoffs start week 14 Sid. Get in the games and get going!

  3. The only reason he doesn’t want to call it quits is for the simple fact he want a big contract extension. Maybe after he plays a week or two on this lethargic offense he may then want to call it quits on the season, like the rest of the Vikings players did in about week 3.

  4. Rice might pull a Berrian and wait until he gets in the tunnel before telling Col Clueless Klink that he can’t go.

Not to worry CryQueen fans, you have Baskett waiting in the wings. The 50th Anniversary season will be a memorable one, that’s for sure.

  5. Reinjure the hip? Based on what? The Doctors cleared him to play. The Coaches said he can play. He’s been practicing for a few weeks. The only person crying is Rice.

Who cares if you’re sore and stiff after practice? It’s called getting in shape. It happens to all of us that have been sitting around doing nothing.

Time to earn a paycheck chump!

  6. He’ll have zero impact on this game. Packers are gonna spank the CryQueens and shut Brett and the entire clueless fanbase up for the rest of the season.

At least another 3 picks from Grandpa Brett. Early Christmas presents to his friends in GB.

Based on what? Based on a big hit from Atari Bigby.

Hahahaha, Col Clueless Clink. U should coin that I have never seen Chilly referred to that way! I never see you post the same crap over and over and over. You are original you gigantic tool.

  9. Once again, the prob isn’t the receivers, it’s the offensive line. You can bring in all the receivers you want but if the QB is killed behind that line, it doesn’t make any difference.

  10. It’s Sydney health not anyone else’s. I’m glad to see the Brad Childress threatened to put him on I.R.. Putting Rice on I.R. would have fixed the wide receiver problem in Minnesota. Clueless!

    eat that filthy Packer fans!

We’re not worried. Your season ended a while ago.

  12. For once, Childress got it right. He’s been cleared by the medical professionals. At some point, you’ve got to get back on the horse. Although since he’s announced that he probably can’t play the whole game … sniff sniff … the Vikes shouldn’t expect to get much productivity out of him.

Has it ever been explained why Sidney wait till two weeks before the season to have the surgery, why not 3 months before?

One of the three doctors he consulted told him it COULD heal on its own. Or his agent told him to wait, he has Rosenhuse.
